“I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep…I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.” John 10: 9-11, 14-15 (King James Version)
The sign on the door read “No Admittance-Authorized Personnel Only.” As I waited for the saleslady to return from her foray into the forbidden territory of “No Admittance,” I considered how often those signs show up.
Sometimes the signs protect the unwary from dangers such as high voltage equipment or whirring machinery. On other occasions, they keep work areas clean or sterile by barring those who haven’t undergone the proper cleaning techniques. They prevent distractions to workers and improper access by visitors. We can laugh at the “No Girls Allowed” signs posted on the clubhouses of little boys and rejoice at the signs barring underage youths from inappropriate environments.
Perhaps the most important “Authorized Personnel Only” sign of all stands at the entrance to heaven. Jesus stated clearly in John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” No ambiguity exists in the statement. Without Jesus, we have no authorization to enter heaven.
So how do you get that authorization? I’ve got great news for you – Jesus offers you an “All Access” pass to the riches of heaven. All you have to do to claim it is claim Him.
Just because it’s readily available doesn’t mean it’s cheap. Jesus paid for your admission with His blood on Calvary. He washed away whatever you were in the past and He offers you a new future in Him
Do you want admission? Talk to the One who holds the door open for you. He’s waiting, just a prayer away.
Father, thank You for the gift of Your precious Son. Thank You for providing us a way to come to You, to be admitted to Your presence. May our lives be a reflection of Your love
