If you have ever spent any time in northeast Tennessee in the fall and winter, you know they still have allot of bird activity there. Something seems amiss, as it seems all the birds left.
As my family and I were driving through Kingsport Tennessee, we stopped to get a bite to eat. We had stopped at this particular spot many times before because there is a walking trail, and allot of wildlife there. We were planning to eat in the car and sit by this relaxing spot , and listen to nature.
It was nearing dark, but only a little after five in the evening, and my husband pointed out something extremely odd. There was not one bird singing or flying from tree to tree. This usually teaming with wildlife area, was dead. Not a sound of life anywhere. This was extremely eerie, as we sat there stunned, and wondering, why?
Maybe there is going to be an extremely harsh winter, and the birds somehow are privy to that information from God. Many have been noticing the oaks dropping more nuts this year. It sounds feasible to me. Why wouldn’t God provide extra food for the animals who store up for the winter? He most certainly would after all He created them.
You may be thinking that it is colder weather, sure there is not going to be any birds. That might be so for some areas but, not this area. It is known for its year round wildlife. Birds are plenty even in the winter.
I love a good mystery, and this surely is one.
Here’s a poem to remember this occasion by.
No fluttering about,
Overnight it seems
the birds fled their nests.
Could it be they followed their dreams
to a tropical place for rest?
I miss your song,
your tweet in the morning ,
saying the night was long.
Eerie it is
without the birds
as cold sets in
I write these words.
Come back sweet birdie,
sing me another song.
I hope to hear from you soon,
I wish winter not to be long.
