“God Calling” today reminds me that His grace is sufficient for each and every day for me. I have this uncanny knack for forgetting that some days-okay a lot of days.
We’re reminded in today’s message that for every task God gives us, we are also given all that we need to accomplish it. That means there’ no excuse to not do it. He gives us the strength, the courage, the wisdom or words…and “no time” is not an excuse either because He redeems the time for us. That means when I put Him first-“seek the Kingdom first”- all the rest falls into place. I don’t know how He does it, but He does it every time.
When I read this message, I have to examine my life-my “day planner”, my “to do list”, and my “why I can’t do it” list. Oh, oh! Suddenly that “why I can’t do it list” is beginning to look more like a list of excuses I indulge my “self” with so I don’t have todo. They cover up my fear or lack of confidence; my laziness or indecisiveness. They cover up my not wanting to take responsibility for or of certain things or areas of my own life. They help me hide the truth from myself. Really, when you think about it, even though those who know us best-especially God- may accept our excuses, they’re not really fooled by them. They know, and so does God-He especially knows-that they’re just excuses. But God is a good God! He’s faithful and just to forgive us and He so patient. He’s ready and waiting with His wide open arms, and gives us the strength and courage to get up and try again-now that we know the truth about that list; and what’s really cool is that He’ll be right there every step of the way with us to help.
