I find the current immigration policy in this country ridiculous and condescending. There are unofficial estimates that over 4 million illegal aliens enter this country every year. We might as well not have an immigration policy at all. First we say that there are legal and illegal ways to enter the country. Then it is not technically enforced unless you are caught in the act of crossing the border or entering the country illegally. Otherwise, if you do make it sight unseen, you get all of the rights and privileges of a tax paying American citizen, without having to pay the same taxes that hard-working citizens do.
There is a diligent process in which one can become a legal American citizen, a process in which one is required to learn the language, the history, the constitution, and the current laws. We should stick to the books and make this the only way to gain citizenship. It is quite uncivilized the method in which foreigners enter this country. It is like a free for all or a game of cat and mouse. There should not be amnesty given for people just because they have gone years unscathed in this country. They should have to follow the same process. No ifs, and, or buts about it. We have an excessive amount of illegal aliens entering our country each day and we already do not have the means to take care of our own citizens.
Why should a non-citizen of this country receive the same due process as a citizen? They have no rights to claim in a country that is not their own. I would expect the same if I wanted to become a resident of another country. I would follow the steps necessary to gain legal citizenship.
