Want to dress up as Edward Cullen, Alice Cullen, Rosalie Hale, Jasper Hale, Emmet Cullen, Carlisle Cullen, Esme Cullen or another “Twilight” vampire for Halloween, a “Twilight” wedding or another costume event? These vampires are not like Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” or even like Anne Rice’s “Interview with the Vampire.” Be sure and follow these important tips!
1. Do not wear fangs.
If you watch the “Twilight” movies closely, you will see that none of the “Twilight” vampires have fangs, not even the Volturi, and they are the meanest, most bad-ass vampires in the movies and the books. Stephenie Meyer explains in the books that her vampires’ teeth are razor sharp and harder than diamonds, so they do not need to be fangs.
2. Wear Red or Amber-Colored Contact Lenses.
Wear amber contact lenses to dress as one of the Cullens or their friends in Denali, Alaska: blonde Tanya, Irina or Kate; or Hispanic Carmen or Eleazar. The “good” vampires only drink the blood of animals, and so their eyes are amber. Wear red contact lenses to be one of the Volturi or any other evil “Twilight” vampire who drinks human blood. Most drug stores carry colored contact lenses in September and October.
3. Wear make-up with glitter in it.
The Cullens and the other “Twilight” vampires are made of living stone, like granite. Because they are made of a stone-like substance, they glitter when light hits them, especially sunlight. Not all “Twilight” vampires are white, either. Laurent (Edi Gathegi) is a “Twilight” vampire from Jamaica, and he glitters, but he is not white.
4. Stay out of the sun, but only because sunlight would give you away.
In “Twilight,” Edward Cullen takes Bella to a meadow on a sunny day and he takes his shirt off in the sun, to show her how he glitters. He wants Bella to be scared of him, to see what a monster he is, what a killing machine. Instead, Bella watches him glittering in the sun and says that it looks like diamonds and that Edward is beautiful. In “New Moon” Edward tries to expose himself to sunlight to get the Volturi to kill him for breaking vampire law.
5. Look your most gorgeous.
The venom from the bite of a “Twilight” vampire turns you into a stone vampire, but this also makes you beautiful. Even the vampires that Victoria creates to kill Bella in “Eclipse” are all beautiful. In Stephenie Meyer’s novella “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner,” they comment on this. Rosalie Hale is the most stunningly beautiful vampire anyone has seen in a long time, but they are all gorgeous.
6. Wear something beautiful, from any time or country.
Aro, Marcus, Caius, Jane, Demetri, Alec and the other Volturi are all at least from 100s of years ago, if not from more than 1000 years ago. You can wear clothes from any country and any time period you want. In “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2” there will be vampires from all over the world, including Amazons, Romanians, Irish and Egyptians.
Bella Bunni’s Boudoir makes extravagant upper-class clothing from different time periods. Order by September 3 for delivery by October 25. About $1,500 for a full outfit.
