The MVP Elite Poll utilizing raw numbers and power statistics has rated the TCU Horned Frogs as the number one team in the nation. The MVP Elite Poll compiled by Ken White, formerly of Las Vegas Sports Consultants,is known as the leading authority in setting the Las Vegas betting line.
Kenny White has long been a proponent of using his power rankings in the equation for the BCS formula. White has included TCU as the number one team in the nation for the past four weeks. Now TCU is just a few fractions of a point behind Oregon and Auburn in the BCS rankings and has an outside chance to make the title game.
MVP Elite Top 10 Rankings
No.1 (BCS-3) TCU Horned Frogs
The TCU Horned Frogs destroyed the undefeated Utah Utes on their home turf and gained respect in the BCS poll by getting within a half point of the top spot in the BCS rankings for the week. TCU should not have any more tough tests until their bowl game now.
No.2 (BCS-1) Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks score in the MVP Elite poll is 119.6 to 120.2. A close margin that could be erased with an few more impressive offensive performances. the Oregon Ducks versus the TCU Horned Frogs could still happen in the BCS formula but it may lead to more leap frog (pardon the pun) situations later in the season.
No.3 (BCS-4) Boise State Broncos
The Boise State Broncos are getting little respect in the BCS rankings but in the MVP Elite Poll they have been at the top of ladder most of the 2010 college football season.
No.4 (BCS-9) Ohio State Buckeyes
The Ohio State Buckeyes ranking in the BCS is ninth and based on their power rankings, the MVP Elite Poll ranks them in the top five just three points off the top team TCU.
No.5 (BCS-12) Alabama Crimson Tide
The Alabama Crimson Tide have lost two game but still rate a tie with bitter rivals the Auburn Tigers. This is where the power rankings look away from win/loss and focus more on the competition level.
No.5 (BCS-2) Auburn Tigers
The Auburn Tigers may rate even with the Alabama Crimson Tide but they rank second in the BCS rankings. The Auburn Tigers will lock up their national title game appearance with a win over Alabama and should shoot up the MVP Elite Poll also.
No.7 (BCS-8) Nebraska Cornhuskers
The Nebraska Cornhuskers should make the Big 12 title game and that will shoot them up the BCS rankings and the MVP Elite Poll.
No.8 (BCS-6) Stanford Cardinal
Jim Harbaugh’s Stanford team does rank sixth in the BCS but they rank behind Alabama and Nebraska on the MVP Elite Poll.
No. 9 (BCS-15) Arkansas Razorbacks
The Arkansas Razorbacks rank all the way down in the teens on the BCS rankings this week but on Kenny White’s MVP Elite Poll they rank in the top 10.
No.10 (BCS-13) Iowa Hawkeyes
Kirk Ferentz and his Iowa Hawkeyes rank lucky 13th in the BCS Rankings but are a top 10 in the MVP Elite Poll. Iowa has been the best team in the Big 10 all season and their game against the Ohio State Buckeyes will determine the best team in the Big 10.
