November 3, 2010 marks National Sandwich Day. According to Punchbowl.com, John Montagu the Fourth Earl of Sandwich was also born on November 3, and it was he who ordered his staff to bring him a lunch served between two pieces of bread so he could eat with one hand. The rest, of course, is history. As just about everyone can attest, the sandwich is one of America’s favorite foods coming in all sorts of different varieties and names. Whether you enjoy a meatball, hero, grinder, sub, hamburger, chicken, steak, fish, or peanut butter sandwich, chances are you appreciate the sandwich, many of us is several ways.
In honor of National Sandwich Day 2010 several restaurants and eateries are serving free or discounted specials. Earl of Sandwich located in the Downtown Disney section of Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL is offering coupons for a free holiday sandwich that can be downloaded and printed out, the only catch is that the offer is for Facebook fans of the centrally located sandwich shop. Plus, courtesy of athriftymom.com, Noodles & Company is offering free sandwiches at a bevy of locations around the country. Fans need only pop by the Noodles & Company Facebook page for times and location of the free sandwich.
If you are not located near a location giving out free or discounted sandwiches, head out to the local grocer and grab your favorite ingredients. With a few minutes of work, you can celebrate National Sandwich Day on your own terms with your own culinary masterpiece consisting of whatever meats, cheeses, condiments, bread, and vegetables you so desire. If that sounds like too much work, there is always the trusty old burger joints or sub locations, either way this is a holiday just about everyone can take a bite out of.
