Barack Obama doesn’t make my country,
And neither does the “Nancy,”
Ms. Pelosi’s mostly wrong,
Trying to be fancy;
Harry Reid plays lots of games,
Jiving and conniving,
Adding up the three of them;
Only leads to phony writhing;
But now these days I’m forced to see,
The likes of Sarah P;
Tee Peeing used to mean something else,
Before the Party Tea;
And now I had to listen to,
Michele B make her case;
For GOP leadership;
She’d barely taken her place.
No these people have little to do with me,
And I mean little at all,
To say they represent me,
Takes a lot of gall;
Because the folks who represent me carry smiles on their faces,
When I’m hurting badly their willing to trade me places;
There’s a guy who once a week grabs my garbage from a can,
He takes it with a smile,
Yeah he’s quite a man.
Another friend works every morning,
Trying to help me write,
I’ve never met the dear guy,
But for his cause I’d fight,
My best friend’s lent me money,
Without a question asked,
In his care I’ve basked,
Family’s gathered round me,
When I thought that I might die,
Without that wonderful love,
I might not have even tried.
In my 61 years of life I could not begin to tell you the number of times that someone has given me a ride or a smile to help me along life’s path. I can no longer listen to those who would say that there is something innately wrong with our country. Obama makes a point of acting embarrassed about us to other countries when it is they who are shameful in their actions.
Are we perfect? No we are not perfect. We never set out to be. Show me another country that brought about an end to slavery essentially voluntarily. Show me another country that sees people get fed as well as this country does or medical treatment as quickly and show me a country that is less satisfied with their progress and more self-depreciating.
Starting today take your place as a proud person; a member of a country that while certainly not an ancient or perfect country in the short period of time that it has been alive has created a type of life for more people of quality and love and opportunity than was ever before seen on this planet. From poem to ode to opinion I present the United States of America!
