On a Budget: Bloomin’ Idiot
Each year as Halloween grows near kids and adults alike get excited about the pending fun. For the family on a budget however, costumes can be a drain on the checkbook. Instead of buying the costume, make the costume. It provides fun and frivolity, leaves you with a sense of accomplishment and alleviates the normal financial drain.
We always want our kids to look their cutest and they always are but don’t forget to have fun with them. Follow the instructions below and refer to the diagrams to make your costume that your friends won’t soon forget.

1) Glue a couple flowers to the hair pins and set aside to dry completely.
2) Move to the pants and wind the vine up one of the legs and secure safety pins. Usually one leg will be enough of the vine and prevent tangling when you’re wearing the pants. Sporadically on pin flowers “blooming” along the leg with the vine.
3) Do the same with the shirt. (If you want to be really coordinated, lay the shirt and pants out together and have the vine and flowers spiralling up a leg, around the torso and down an arm.)
4) On Halloween night, slide the hair pins in your hair to complete the look. Have fun getting your friends to guess what you are. It will be a memorable costume that’s fun for all ages. Once Halloween is over, simply remove the vine, flowers and safety pins and continue to use your pants and shirt.
