From a personal standpoint as an Indiana Pacers fan I am fairly happy to see the Detroit Pistons struggle in recent years. Sports fans are of course going to remember the Brawl in the Palace. To be perfectly honest, the most depressing part other than the mayhem of that situation between the Pacers and Pistons was Pacers center David Harrison. David Harrison was someone who had a great amount of success with the University of Colorado Buffaloes. The truth is that David Harrison is probably best known for his time in the NBA as the guy who helped try break up the fight at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
The Pistons certainly had a high amount of success under both coaches Larry Brown and Flip Saunders. Many people out there are beginning to now question the wisdom of Joe Dumars as an executive of the Pistons. There are people out there who certainly feel that Dumars overpaid for talent such as Charlie Villanueva and Ben Gordon. There are many other people who simply think the Pistons have too many wing players on their roster. There are some people who definitely have ended up criticizing Dumars when trading for an aging Allen Iverson.
There are a lot of people who of course were going to question the hiring and the quick firing of former head Michael Curry. Michael Curry is a former teammate of Joe Dumars. Dumars seemed to really enjoy playing with Michael Curry, but the fact of the matter is that he should have given his former teammate more of a shot .
Now from a personal standpoint some people may say that I am just giving Joe Dumars a hard time because I am largely a fan of coach Rick Carlisle. Rick Carlisle was at one point also the head coach of the Indiana Pacers. Rick was the head coach of the Pistons before that. Some people do tend to believe that Dumars is too quick as he selects and fires a head coach.
Some people tend to believe that current head coach John Kuester is simply working on borrowed time as head coach. Kuester is a North Carolina guy and Dumas has already shown a willingness to let another North Carolina guy as Larry Brown sought more money and possibly a different job title at the time. John Kuester has already been feuding with a capable player like Tayshaun Prince. The fact that Kuester’s Pistons can lose to a young Los Angeles Clippers team at home is something that can show Kuester may have lost the team for good as noted by the Royal Oak Tribune..
As a Pacers fan, some Pistons fans may be able to say that the Indiana front office has made some poor decisions as far as coaching and on court personnel. The truth of the matter is that all NBA franchises are likely to hit some kind of dry spell.
