Just like I predicted yesterday, Paris Hilton says the cocaine found in her purse when she was stopped by police in Las Vegas on Friday night, were not her drugs. Oh no. According to Hilton, the purse she was carrying, belonged to “a friend” so the cocaine must be hers. Either Paris Hilton has so many druggie friends, maybe she should find some new ones, or she’s the world’s biggest liar and thinks people are gullible enough to believe her. Personally, I’m going for the latter one.
With her now-third-drug-arrest in only two months, and Hilton saying every time the drugs found on her didn’t belong to her but to a friend, it was only a matter of time before she came up with the same excuse for drug arrest number three. After all, it worked the first two times so why wouldn’t the “my friend’s drugs” excuse work a third?
Well, maybe because US police aren’t as gullible or as star-struck as those in South Africa and Corsica, the last two places Paris Hilton was arrested for drug possession.
But…….if that doesn’t work, Hilton’s attorney already has another defense all lined up in an effort to get Hilton off a cocaine possession charge.
According to one source, Paris Hilton’s attorney, David Chesnoff, is going to fight this third drug arrest by accusing Las Vegas police of performing an illegal search. Why? Because Paris Hilton was not searched while still in or near her car. Instead, police took her to the nearby Wynn Las Vegas Hotel where she was searched inside the security office.
The search was probably conducted at the hotel as, because Paris Hilton is Paris Hilton and visibly so, once police had stopped her car, a crowd gathered and began to take photographs and video. Las Vegas police likely felt, at this point, it wasn’t in Hilton’s best interests so they moved her to a location that could be controlled.
Ah, but there’s another little bit of information here that’s more important than an illegal search. According to a report on the BBC’s website, the cocaine Paris Hilton is being charged with having in her possession was actually found in the car then, while in the security office, more fell from the purse she was carrying (remember, the “friend’s purse”) when she reached for her lip balm. According to a police statement (see video link below), the vial carrying cocaine fell from Paris Hilton’s purse in “plain view of the Metro lieutenant”.
And that, my friends, is not an illegal search. If it is in “plain view” of the police officer, it is fair game. Maybe Paris Hilton might want to rethink her plea. The third “my friend’s drugs” plea probably won’t cut it this time.
