The Partnership for a Drug-Free America, Arizona Affiliate has hired Kim Obert as its program and communications manager.
Obert is responsible for developing and implementing Partnership programming, including the weekly parent workshops that are a major component of a new initiative entitled AZ Parents Connect. AZ Parents Connect is a research-based community education program developed by the Partnership to raise awareness of teen alcohol, marijuana and prescription drug abuse in Arizona by targeting parents, health care professionals and military families.
Obert began her work with the Partnership as a volunteer in 2006, three years after her 18-year-old son Kent died of an accidental prescription drug overdose. She has shared her story with thousands of Arizona parents with the hope of encouraging them to talk to their kids about the dangers of substance use and abuse.
Prior to her position at the Arizona Affiliate, Obert worked as director of marketing and public relations at MC Companies in Scottsdale.
Obert studied marketing at Santa Ana College in Santa Ana, Calif. and has completed numerous professional development and continuing education courses through the local chapters of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), American Marketing Association (AMA) and Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
She is a resident of Scottsdale.
