We all spoil our pets. Dogs, cats, rabbits, whatever animal turns us on, we adore them and treat them as one of the family. Sometimes even better than family. We buy them sweaters, hats, booties and leather jackets to show them off because they just look so cute. We indulge them in human celebrations and buy them birthday presents, Christmas gifts and the list goes on with things we purchase for our pets. But a stroller? Seriously?
What in the world is the point of a pet stroller? After all, isn’t exercise the reason for taking your dog for a walk in the first place? Really, they can do their duty in the backyard. Many dog owners rarely, if ever, take their dogs for a stroll. So if you’re taking the dog for a walk for exercise why would you want or even need a stroller?
Good questions. There are, indeed, good answers. Pet strollers are primarily meant for pets who can no longer enjoy a nice walk or be able to accompany their owners for long periods of time. Age, illness, and other factors may limit a dog’s abilities to walk for long distances and if you’re one of most dog owners who treat Spot like one of the children than chances are you also enjoy bringing your dog with you on some journeys.
Chances are, too, that your dog is used to going places and being active so a pet stroller allows him the luxury of still being able to accompany his master without endangering his health. Dogs that are no longer able to enjoy outings can become depressed and stressed.
A pet stroller solves that problem for both you and the dog.
If you’re thinking of investing in a stroller for your pet there are some things you may want to consider. You could probably search for cheaper but it will be hard to find a decent pet stroller for under $50.00. So they aren’t exactly easy on the pocket. They can also be dangerous if you have a pet that gets jumpy at anything that moves. If the dog sees a cat there could be serious trouble since your dog has complete freedom to jump the buggy. If you decide to purchase a pet stroller for your dog, or any pet, be sure to continue the use of a leash for the safety of your pet.
Pet strollers range in prices depending on the store so it’s always wise to shop around before purchasing. PetSmart.com offers about eight different pet strollers ranging from $51.99 – $159.99. Walmart.com has thirteen pet strollers and their prices run a bit higher at $54.00 – $259.00. Not too surprising, Target.com’s prices are even higher starting from $79.99 – $299.99. So, shopping around is always best as you can see. With Christmas around the corner there’s bound to be sales even for your pet.
