I hate having my photo taken because I always look nervous and tight in the face. However, my fiance gave me some great tips to look awesome in pictures, and they really do work! Here’s some awesome tips so you can look good in every photo.
First of all, look genuinely happy. The best way to do this is think of something that makes you smile or laugh. A laughing picture is usually one of the best ones anyone can take, because they look so relaxed and happy. Think of a goofy song or a fond moment, and let it show on your face for the best possible picture.
Relax your hands and arms. Put them behind you if you can’t keep from folding your arms or wringing your hands. I find the best posture for me is to take pictures sitting down, because my body posture is more relaxed.
If pictures make you uncomfortable, turn your head to the side for a side shot. Sometime full-on views just don’t look as nice, and can be awkward. Turn your head naturally or just tilt your head a bit and you’ll get a more natural pose out of your face.
Smile, but not the entire time the photographer is shooting. Your face will begin to look tight and your pictures will look weird. Rather, relax your face between shots and smile like you just saw someone you really like, not like you’re posing.
Don’t stare directly at the camera. Some of my best photos are where I’m looking beyond the camera. I always look at the photographer’s shoulder. It just makes the picture less intense-looking.
Allow people to take pictures of you when you’re not posing, and don’t throw your arms up in front of your face. The candid shots are almost always the best ones.
Relax your body already. Awkward posture equals and awkward picture. Rather, lean on something or the person next to you, or just stand as you normally do. Sit down or kneel, do whatever makes you comfortable.
Don’t blink right as the flash is going off. Hard, I know, but try not to.
Just try to have fun with the photos. If you’re nervous it will show in your pictures, and you want to look natural, not posey. Try to have someone you know take photos of you, and always think of things that make you grin or laugh, and just relax already! Your pictures will turn out great if you do.
