Piper Perabo was injured on the set of Covert Affairs this week. It looks like Perabo was injured doing one of her own stunts, but, according to website TMZ, she is slated to make a full recovery.
The injury took place in Toronto, where they are filming new episodes of Cover Affairs. On the show, Perabo plays a rookie CIA agent, and one who is constantly getting put into dangerous situations. She injured one of her knees during a scene, and was taken to a local hospital just to make sure everything was all right. It turned out to be not that serious, and that is pretty good news for the show. It doesn’t seem like Covert Affairs could survive without Perabo being able to run around in the episodes, so this is really good news for producers.
This is the first season of Covert Affairs over on USA, and it just started as a summer show for the network. Think of a toned down version of Alias, where Perabo’s character is put into situations that most rookie CIA agents aren’t really ready to encounter. This is a niche that isn’t really represented in television right now, and it is really nice to see an action-oriented show with a female lead back on one of the major networks.
Perabo is surrounded by a pretty good supporting cast that includes Christopher Gorham, Kari Matchett, and Peter Gallagher. It also has Sendhil Ramamurthy, who used to be on NBC’s Heroes as Mohinder Suresh for the duration of that show. He is pretty good in his new role as another one of the CIA operatives.
According to Deadline.com, the ratings for Covert Affairs have been getting better and better as the weeks go by this summer. The show debuted at 4.9 million viewers back on its July 13 season premiere, and continues to hold really strongly in the key demographics for television advertisers.
It is also the No. 1 cable series when it comes to the 18-49 age range, drawing 2.52 million viewers per episode. That is much higher than many shows that air during the regular season on ABC, CBS, or NBC. This alone is probably one of the main reasons that Covert Affairs has already been picked up for a second season, and it is a show that people should definitely check out if they haven’t already seen an episode. Covert Affairs airs episodes on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. PST/EST right now.
