There are plenty of standalone plug and play systems for sale on the market. These systems do not let you add more games to the systems. However the upside of these popular systems is that they already include many games. The number of games vary depending on the system. Some systems are single players and some are even multiple players. The Retro Arcade Pac-Man (and more) Plug & Play Video TV Game is one of these systems. How good is the Retro Arcade Pac-Man (and more) Plug & Play Video TV Game system? If you want to know read on.
The Retro Arcade includes 12 games including 4 versions of Pac-Man. These are not games that were on home consoles but are games that were at the arcades. The machine is even built to resemble an old arcade. Unlike the old arcade though this system will not cost you a fortune in quarters.
Prices range greatly for the Retro Arcade. Often you can find them for less as new similar products come on the market. The retail price is about $30 though. This is kind of high but when you think about how much you would spend to play these games in the arcade it is not so bad. It is also cheaper then buying an arcade system.
The design of the Retro Arcade is pretty good. It is built well and looks good. The controller handles well unlike some plug and play systems. The only flaw with the design of the system is that the buttons are on the left side not the right.
The games work great. The emulation is perfect. The sound is just like the original. The games are all popular classic arcade machines. Some of the games that play are of course Pac-Man, Pole Position, and many other popular 80’s games. The games play exactly like the arcades. If you recall the old Pac-Man patterns then you will be happy to find out that the patterns still work. It is literally like playing the exact same game.
This is a pretty good little plug and play system. It is a bit on the pricey side for the number of games you get. The quality of the games and the machine though are great. I would recommend this as an alternative to more expensive options like buying an arcade. However there are cheaper similar systems and ones priced the same that offer many more games.
