Being Plus sized doesn’t mean you can’t dress up for Halloween! I found a ton of resources on where to buy or how to make a plus sized costume for Halloween.
1.) My Diva’s Closet
My Diva’s Closet lists well over 20 different plus sized women’s costumes for Halloween. Ranging from a sexy candy corn witch to a pink cherry geisha there is no reason to resort to a frumpy costume this year.
2.) Halloween Express
Halloween Express has a plenitude of costumes for plus sized women. New for 2010 is the Twister Women’s plus sized costume. This costume is designed to look like the Twister game and includes a hat designed to look like the spinner board.
3.) Plus-Size Costume Shop
The Plus-Size Costume Shop is dedicated solely to plus sizes for Halloween costumes. These costumes are professionally handmade and they offer sizes from 1X-7X. I fell in love with the classic Strawberry Shortcake costume they have featured on their website.
4.) Halloween Costume Ideas
The website Halloween Costume Ideas has a lot of neat costumes for both men and women available in plus sized. My favorites were the male Smurf costume and plus sized Popeye costume.
5.) Sew the costume yourself.
There are many plus sized sewing patterns available online or Jo-Ann Fabrics if you have one in your area. Simplity offers a nice variety of plus sized sewing patterns for Halloween. The patterns range from historical costumes to traditional witch costumes. If you do not sew perhaps you could pay a friend or relative who likes to sew to make your costume for you.
6.) A few more D.I.Y. plus sized costume ideas.
Another AC contributor wrote a wonderful article on Last minute plus sized Halloween costumes you can make yourself. Including a very unique Sandy Olsson “GREASE” Costume.
