How crazy would you have to be to inject tattoo ink into your own eye? Well, Matt Gone, a man from Portland, Oregon, who claims to have covered an estimated 98% of his body with tattoos, says he is NOT crazy. His state of sanity may be questionable however. It is hard not to stare at Gone with his checkerboard-covered face and head, gold covered teeth and now multicolored eyes. He may not be crazy but he definitely is unique.
Matt Gone has a birth defect causing some of his muscles to have underdeveloped. He claims this defect has caused him to dislike his body. Covering himself with tattoos is one way he has decided to take control over his self and create a body he loves. However, this time Gone may have gone (no punt intended) a little too far.
CNN interviewed Ophthalmologist, Dr. Douglas Meier, to discuss the dangers of injecting tattoo ink into ones eye. Dr. Meier made it perfectly clear the dangers were grave and could cause an infection, leading to possible blindness and even eye loss. Although Gone claims his experience and training lead him to succeeding with tattooing his eyes, he admits he is lucky.
