Post midterm election America seems little changed from before last Tuesday. Perhaps that’s a good thing in terms of stability and all that would point to. Let’s look around.
Political ads are now being viewed not as selling points, but being vetted for accuracy as well as being examined for underlying meanings. I even saw on Fox News a series of ads from the Florida governor’s race and their effect on the losing candidate and the losing candidate’s dissatisfaction with the Obama agenda.
MSNBC “suspended” Keith Olbermann, but not for long. He will return to the airwaves tomorrow evening, so he was essentially suspended without pay for two working days. Why? If his actions were so egregious to cause immediate suspension, why is he back after two whole days? I do not ask wishing him ill or a drastically longer sabbatical, but still, this looks like posing on the part of MSNBC execs. Is it any wonder why they are so far back in the ratings as to be the poster children for how NOT to do it? If he broke a rule sufficient for immediate suspension, why is it so short and seemingly meaningless, unless of course it was a demonstration strictly for the purposes of fronting? It was however a great way to get free publicity in the competition media, now wasn’t it?
Nancy Pelosi was reelected – no surprise there, I mean it is San Fran, so…but unlike the more honorable that came before her, instead of resigning her seat, or at least sitting on the back bench quietly, she is running for Minority Leader. The woman is 70, has a passel of kids and grandkids and she claims to be all about family, yet instead of enjoying her full bank accounts, winery and her own private jet, she chooses to remain in the lion’s den? Can you say “power hungry, liking oneself a bit too much & exceptional arrogance?” Instead of wearing her mantle of first female Speaker with some decorum, she is choosing instead to seek power, lessened but still power, and runs the very real risk of moving from notable to laughable, that is if one did not already find her a joke, as I do and did.
White House Press Secretary and college classmate of mine Robert Gibbs, or “Fibbs” as Rush coined him is seen in India brow beating and wagging his finger in the face of Indian administration officials. Look at the photo and tell me this man isn’t somewhat unhinged or at least totally lacking in decorum. Don’t know about you folks, but the man in my house that wags his finger in my face warning me of the consequences of my own actions in my own house runs the extreme risk of leaving my house in the supine position…maybe that’s just a brutish me.
Barack Obama’s post election interviews are a great example of more of the same. Here, after an historic midterm spanking, we can find Obama giving interviews and press conferences where he represents a complete ignorance as to what last Tuesday’s election was about. So the smartest, most nuanced and different politico to ever suck wind doesn’t grasp Obamcare was the straw the broke his broken down donkey’s back? Hmmmm? That is puzzling. Far and wide across this land as well in most all foreign media, the message is clear – American’s almost totally reject the agenda and the Congressional representatives who voted for it, yet the uber brained can’t grasp it?
Even when exit polling and pre-election polls were wall to wall clear that the Obama agenda – bailouts, Obamacare, Wall St. reform, Cap & Trade and all the rest, were clearly NOT WANTED by the citizenry, here we see the smartest man in the room telling us the problem was he spent too much time legislating and not enough time selling the agenda? Please, Barack. This is more of you treating us like we are total idiots, which does I guess fit the progressive opinion of conservatism and those not so enamored with Obama. Does the Mouth that Roared think we are going to swallow this? Can a politico be any more inept? Hang on and as history has clearly demonstrated when it comes to Obama, the next foolish attempt at usurpation is just around the corner.
The events since midnight last Tuesday evening show for this nation to be righted, no pun intended, the power of progressives must be almost completely crushed. It would seem that the progressive political leader hasn’t a clue as to the upshot of the midterm elections. Again, how can he be the smartest man in the room if he can’t get it? I mean I am a college grad too, but not Ivy League and I have no post-graduate degree, yet I get it. So do scores of millions of American’s regardless of education, but the most brilliant man ever is totally clueless?
Or of course, as is demonstrated when I suspend my hyperbole and sarcasm, he is a political opportunist and a damned dishonest one at that. So far we see only the ground work of reversing this progressive trend has been laid. As Obama said, he is ready for a fight, and remember, his team has already lost. Didn’t he hear the whistle blow? If not, what the Hell is the purpose of them big-assed ears? Oh yeah, I forgot. They’re airfoils, like a spoiler on the rear of a race car, used to keep him from floating above us, ya know, like when Jesus walked on water? Wouldn’t want that superior intellect to cause him to take flight. Loftiness can be so burdensome, no?
