Jody woke up early the next morning. It was the first time she had ever slept outside and it was the first time she had slept naked. Sitting up the girl stretched her hands high over head and yawned loudly. The first thing the girl could hear was the sounds of the ocean and the sounds of seagulls.
“Good morning Jody.” Said Sammy, who was climbing out of a tent she had erected the night before. “How did you sleep?” The girl asked.
“To be honest it was rough.” Jody said, rubbing her shoulders. She wanted to lie to her best friend, but the pain in her shoulders made it impossible. “I really hope I don’t have to sleep like this every night.”
“You won’t.” Sammy said, angrily. “I’ll make sure they give you a comfortable bed to sleep in.”
“I would actually love to see a bed big enough to hold me.” Jody said, wondering what a bed that big would look like and where it would be placed.
“We do have something for you.” Silvia said. Both Jody and Sammy didn’t notice the woman standing a few feet away from them. Silvia gestured towards the metallic plate.
All eyes turned towards the plate as several large towers began to rise. Jody and Sammy were both surprised to see a large outfit big enough to fit Jody rising between two of the towers. Also located on two towers were boots big enough to fit Jody’s feet.
The outfit was a one-piece suit. It looked like it was made of plastic, but the girls knew better then that. It was dark blue in color and had white around the shoulders and stripes of white ran down the arms and legs of the outfit. The boots only rose to the ankles and they were dark blue themselves.
Jody was thankful and relieved to receive clothes, but didn’t let it show on her face. “Thank you Silvia!” Jody cheered in her head.
“You can go ahead and put it on.” Silvia said, smiling at Jody. “I’ll explain everything once you’re change.”
Jody happily put on the clothes. She slid the outfit over her naked body and then slid her bare feet into the boots.
“How does it feel?” Sammy asked.
“Pretty good.” Jody said, looking down at her body.
“We have one more item for you to wear.” Silvia said. The four towers lowered into the plate as another tower rose. On the very top of the tower were a pair of gloves. Those were also dark blue in color. Jody quickly slid them on her hands. “Excellent.” Silvia said, once Jody was changed.
“These feel like normal clothes.” Jody observed. “How did you make them so quickly?” The girl asked.
“Simple. We have a large machine that can create outfits of any size using the data we collected from you yesterday. This outfit is completely waterproof and it’s made up of special materials that prevent ripping and burning. The outfit is also stain proof. Also the machines located in the outfit itself were already built.” Jody explained.
“Machines?” Jody said, glancing down at her body.
“That’s right. As you know you’ll be fighting all types of monsters and since you are still human you need some protection. First of all you are completely covered in an invisible shield that protects you from energy beams. In the collar of your outfit we have a communicator so we can contact you no matter where you are. We have a holographic map that will activate automatically and show you where monsters are and lastly we built a machine that can shoot a special pulse into your body.”
“Pulse? What’s that for?” Jody asked.
“We’ll show you.” Silvia said, raising her right hand over her head. After a second she brought it back down.
Jody grabbed her stomach and began laughing hysterically. She didn’t know why or where it was coming from, but it felt like millions of tiny hands were tickling her everywhere. She felt the hands tickling her underarms, sides, belly, waist, hips, knees, thighs and feet.
“STOP!” Jody squealed with ticklish laughter. The girl backed up several feet before collapsing onto the ground. The girl resisted the urge to thrash wildly out of fear of hurting someone.
Suddenly the tickling stopped and Jody was allowed to catch her breath. “Sorry about that.” Silvia said. “I should have warned you that was going to happen.”
“That would have been nice.” Jody said, sitting up.
“We figured if laughing can make you stronger we should have some device that we could control that would tickle you.” Silvia said. “To avoid knocking you out the pulse can only be activated three times a day and only for one minute each time.”
“It’s still hard to believe.” Jody said, sighing deeply. “That the thing that can give me strength can also hurt me.”
“It’s a gift and a curse. A side-effect of the cannon.” Silvia said.
“Now they can bully you from anywhere!” Sammy announced, running up to Jody. Jody went to one knee and placed her hand down so Sammy could hop into her palm. Once Sammy was sitting comfortably in her hand Jody stood.
“It’ll be ok.” Jody said, patting Sammy’s head using her index finger. “They’re looking after me. This is a good idea you know.”
“Yeah… well…” Sammy said, puffing out her cheeks and crossing her arms in front of her chest.
“Ladies.” Silvia said. “I don’t mean to interrupt you, but we need to get going.”
“Where are we going?” Jody asked.
“Were going to North City.” Silvia said. “We have to get going.”
“How?” Both Jody and Sammy asked in unison.
Hours later Jody, Sammy and Silvia were riding on a large cargo ship. Silvia was inside the massive ship while Jody and Sammy sat on the bow. Jody was surprised she didn’t sink the ship the moment it left the harbor.
“I thought I would sink this thing.” Jody said, patting the top of the ship. “I look pretty weird, huh?” The girl asked, looking at Sammy who was sitting in the palms of her hands. The girl’s cheeks were bright red.
“No way!” Sammy said, shaking her head. “You look really cool!”
“Thanks.” Jody said, giggling. “I have to admit you’re pretty cool too. I mean taking on the MDF the way you have. You’re a lot tougher then I am.”
“Of course I’m cool and tough!” Sammy said, matter-of-factly. The girl crossed her arms in front of her chest.
“You sure are tough!” Jody giggled. “I wonder if you get stronger when you’re tickled.” The girl said. Jody began tickling Sammy’s sides using her index finger. Sammy burst into ticklish laughter and began wriggling around in the palm of Jody’s hand.
Jody moved from the girl’s left side to her right and then began poking the girl’s belly. The muscles in Sammy’s belly tightened and her laughter grew louder. “STOP…!” Sammy giggled. “I’M NOT STRONGER… I’M NOT!” Sammy announced, through her ticklish laughter.
“Oh I don’t know about that…” Jody said, running her index finger over Sammy’s left thigh. “You seem to be getting stronger, but that might just be me.”
“IT IS!” Sammy squealed, kicking her bare feet wildly. Jody stopped tickling and allowed her best friend to catch her breath.
“If you say so.” Jody giggled.
Sammy sat up on her knees. She smiled warmly, but her smile quickly vanished. “Are you scared?” The girl asked.
“Well… I guess a little.” Jody admitted, shrugging her shoulders. “I’ve seen monsters up close before. I just can’t imagine being as big as them.” The girl began. “They’re also really powerful.”
“You’re going to kick their butts!” Sammy announced.
“Thanks!” Jody said, happily. “Now where was I before?” The girl asked, as she went for Sammy’s bare feet.
Sammy squealed with ticklish laughter and fell to her stomach as Jody raked her fingernail over the tender soles. Sammy giggled into her arms and her legs kicked slightly, but besides that she didn’t move much.
“Are you enjoying it?” Jody asked.
“I… I DON’T… KNOW!” Sammy cried. Her words came out jumbled.
Jody blushed harder. She enjoyed feeling Sammy’s body vibrated in the palm of her hand. The girl moved onto Sammy’s sides causing the girl to roll onto her back and start pounding her fists against the palm of Jody’s hand.
“Hey Sammy…” Jody began, halting her torture. “Thanks for sticking with me. It means a lot.”
Sammy didn’t say anything, she only smiled and nodded.
The next morning Jody and Sammy spotted North City. It was a huge metropolitan city that was the home of millions. It had huge skyscrapers and hundreds of businesses. Jody and Sammy had lived in that city their entire lives. They loved it there.
“Were finally home.” Jody said, breathing deeply. “I wonder what everyone’s going to say.”
“I wonder if the monster alarm is going off.” Sammy said.
“HEY!” Jody said, shocked her best friend would say that.
“I wasn’t calling you a monster.” Sammy said, looking into her friend’s eyes. “I was just saying you’re really tall!”
“There’s nothing to worry about.” Said Silvia, stepping out onto the deck. “The government already knows about you.”
“That’s a relief.” Jody said. Suddenly a thought came to the girl. “Where am I going to stay?” Jody asked.
“There.” Silvia answered. She was waiting for the question.
Both Jody and Sammy looked where Silvia was pointing. Off the side of the city, connected to a large bridge, was a human made floating island. The island was completely circular in shape and had a huge building dominating the entire thing.
“Whoa…” Jody gasped.
When the cargo ship reached the circular island Jody, while carrying both Sammy and Silvia, stepped onto the bridge. Directly in front of them was a massive door that looked like it belonged to a garage.
“Go ahead and step forwards. The building is programmed to open for you.” Said Silvia.
Jody nodded and headed for the building. As Silvia said, the door began to rise as she got closer and closer. Soon the door was completely open and the girls were able to see what was inside. To Jody’s surprise she saw a large bed on the left side of the room, a movie theater screen on the right and another garage door on the other side of the room.
“Wow. A huge bed!” Sammy said, her voice was filled with wonder.
“It’s not as impressive as it looks. We basically took a bunch of metallic plates and melted them together. Gathering enough foam to make up the mattress took a lot of time too.” Silvia said.
Jody shook her head. “It looks great.” The girl said. Stepping into the home she headed for the other room. When that door opened she gasped and then laughed.
“A huge toilet!” Sammy announced, laughing herself.
“That is impressive” Jody said.
“Don’t worry. You’ll have your privacy. We do have some smaller facilities in case people come over.” Silvia said.
“That’s good.” Jody said.
“Alright. Let’s discuss a few things while we have the chance.” Silvia said. “Do you mind putting me down?”
“Sure.” Jody said, lowering her hand. Both Sammy and Silvia climbed off.
“As you might know.” Silvia began, as Jody took a seat on the massive bed. “There are four classes of monsters. D class, C class, B class and A class. The D class monsters are basically like overgrown animals. They rarely attack anyone unless they feel threatened and rarely come to the city at all. C class are a little more dangerous. B class are very dangerous and often have energy beams. A class are the most dangerous. Not only do that have energy beams and other strange types of powers, but they are also intelligent and calculating creatures.”
“I understand.” Jody said, nodding.
“Unless bathing.” Silvia began again. “We need you to keep your suit on at all times. When we spot a monster heading towards the city we’ll contact you immediately and show you where it is on the map. After that we’ll evacuate that portion of the city… Well unless we deem it necessary. Also you’re allowed to leave this building and go into the city, but you have to watch for pedestrians and you can’t cause any traffic jams.”
“I understand.” Jody said, nodding again.
“Any questions?” Silvia asked.
“I do.” Jody said, patting her stomach. “Why aren’t I hungry? Am I sick?” The girl asked.
Silvia shook her head. “Another side-effect of the cannon. You don’t need to eat.”
“Oh. Good.” Jody said, surprised.
“I have a question!” Sammy said, holding her right hand over her head. “Where do I stay?”
“Where your stuff is.” Jody said. “Go back home Sammy. I’ll see you later.”
“No way!” Sammy said, defiantly. “You need someone here to watch out for you.”
“I have Silvia silly.” Jody said, smiling reassuringly at her friend.
“Actually I’m heading back to my island here in a little bit. I want to finish designing the new Zero robot and I’m already thinking about upgrading your suit.” Silvia said.
“You see! I’m staying!” Sammy said, matter-of-factly.
“Well…” Jody began, her eyes moved to Silvia.
“That’s up to you both. Sammy can stay, but she can’t become a distraction.” Silvia said. “Well I’m going now. You’ll be taking your orders from someone else for a while. See you.” Silvia said, waving goodbye to both girls before turning and leaving the massive building. Once she was gone the garage door began closing.
“Looks like I have a roommate.” Jody said, smiling. “But we have to have rules. No getting under my feet.”
“I won’t.” Sammy said, crossing her arms in front of her chest. “And rule number two is you don’t treat me like a little kid.”
Jody giggled. “No offense Sammy, but you are like a little kid. You can be such a baby sometimes.”
“AM NOT!” Sammy snapped, narrowing her eyes at Jody.
Jody sighed deeply when she saw tears forming in the corners of her best friends eyes. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s ok.” Sammy said, though she still sounded angry. “I’m going to get something to eat. I’ll see you later.”
“See you.” Jody said, watching as her friend left the building as well. When the girl was alone she leaned back on the bed and placed her hands behind her head. The bed was comfortable, but it wasn’t like her old bed. The room was also a little drafty. It would take some time to get used to. The girl thought about everything that had happened yesterday and today. In that short amount of time her entire life had changed.
Jody closed her eyes and rolled onto her left side facing a blank wall. Soon she fell asleep. She dreamt about fighting giant monsters.
