How many times has a believer been falsely accused and found themselves in the middle of a fight? It’s probably a battle that has been forced on you, one that you tried to avoid, yet wouldn’t let you go. The Christian finds himself in a situation that calls for great faith, endurance, and prayer.
The first line of defense in a battle is to make sure your faith is tuned up and in full working mode. The Scriptures tell us it is impossible to please God without faith. We are not called to have faith of great breadth or depth. We are told that faith the size of a mustard seed (an extremely small seed) can tell a mountain to move into the sea and it will do so. Mountains are symbolic of things that stand in our way or deny us access in our journey. So bolster your faith, realize that it doesn’t have to be of great size, and get yourself ready.
Whether your battle is for real or it is a battle to get rid of a bad health condition, you always need endurance. No one can go into battle without this. Our military trains for long periods of time before they are sent into battle to build endurance. In order to build endurance spiritually we need to ask God for His favor and give us what we need since we are told that it takes endurance to do the will of God and receive what he has promised. Notice that endurance comes before receiving the promise. We must ask for endurance in addition to cultivating it. Scripture also tells us that we have not because we ask not. Recall your past victories and praise God for bringing you through. Reflect on the things that were given to you, for your battle. Remember how God sent you strength. These memories will be key to helping you overcome your present situation.
Pray the scriptures containing God’s purpose for you. I have found it helpful to go to the Bible and look up the scriptures where God is promising victory. He tells us we are the head and not the tail, above and not beneath. This is a powerful mindset to start out with. Similarly, He tells us if God be for you, who can be against you? We are told that no weapon formed against us will prevail and He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. These scriptures are important for faith building and setting the tone for the battle.
For the battle itself scripture says that you will refute every tongue that accuses you and whoever attacks you will surrender to you. God reminds us that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. In Proverbs God reminds us that the house of the wicked will be destroyed but the tent of the upright will flourish. Further, God’s Word says that the wicked may come at us one way but will flee from us seven ways!! This is good news!! Notice though, that the enemy doesn’t relent, conversely, the enemy comes at us. Don’t fret when you see the enemy coming for you but rejoice that the victory is already yours. God has won the battle and delivered the victory into your hands! Go to scripture and let God’s word direct you. He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. He ultimately promises that His word will not return to Him empty but will accomplish what He desires and achieve the purpose for which He sent it. When it’s done He says we will go out in joy and be led forth in peace. That is our goal, to protect our peace and know that God is for us in every battle in life.
