PHILADELPHIA – Joe Sestak is running against Republican U.S. Senate nominee Pat Toomey in November, and as Pat Toomey’s true colors showed last week, I feel relieved that the president will be holding this fundraiser and coming together with U.S. Senate nominee Joe Sestak. As far as politics go, too often after elections voters are dismayed to learn of twists and turns that their elected officials make afterward. The way I am looking at it though, is if Toomey can’t manage to behave in a becoming, and refined manner before he is even elected, it is pretty scary to think what would happen if he were elected.
What This Means For Philadelphia Residents
It has been reported by Politics PA that: “President Barack Obama will hold a fundraiser for Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Joe Sestak on Sept. 20 in Philadelphia”. This means a lot for working families for many reasons. The two reasons that stand out the most is his stance on education for children, making college more affordable for all and numerous other programs for the youth of Philadelphia. This would have a great impact on our family, as I have one child struggling to stay in college now and a son who will be going on to college soon as well. In creating programs for those families that slip through the cracks, the ones that have too much money for aid, but not enough for tuition, and by enabling families with the lowest income to understand and get involved in programs that would allow our children who otherwise would not have made it to college to not only go to college, but then be able to go on to get jobs and be a stable part of our community and economy.
Why It Gives My Family, and Others Like Mine Hope In the Philadelphia Suburbs
Pat Toomey appears to not really understand Philadelphia and how severe the violence is as shown by his flippant remark about gun control last week. Joe Sestak grew up in this area, went to school in this area and has first-hand knowledge of the Philadelphia and surrounding areas. This means a lot to me because understanding the issues facing Philadelphia and its issues first-hand I feel confident that he will do his best to keep families like my own safer, and give children of the area the opportunity to grow instead of being forgotten. Joe Sestak basically stands at the completely opposite side of every issue next to Pat Toomey.
Instead of going through all these issues, I’ll stick to the two most important issues and how it would affect my family if he was elected. I am a firm believer in the Second Amendment. That does not mean however, that I think it should be easy for criminals to buy guns. Sestak supports gun control. This does not mean he is against law abiding citizens owning guns. This does however, mean that he supports the gun control laws in place. These laws were put in place for a reason, to make it more difficult for criminals to get guns. This means safer streets for my son to walk down. Safer neighborhoods where children can go to the playground without fear of getting shot.
How Joe Sestak Being Elected Would Improve Life in Philadelphia
Having a local man, whose stance on all issues at hand appears to be truly for the people, and more importantly, families in the U.S. Senate would greatly improve life in Philadelphia. This would mean having an elected official in that position that truly understands Philadelphia and Philadelphia suburbs. This would directly affect my family in my opinion with enforcement of gun control, and helping children go to college. This combination helps keep my family safe and then gives them the ability to educate themselves, and give back to the community.
