Dallas-area Gleeks will get an early Halloween treat this weekend. Fox 4 and KISS 106.1 are teaming up to bring a preview of the “Rocky Horror Glee Show” to Victory Park. Fans can watch the tribute to the 1975 “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” on the big screen at AT&T Plaza in Victory Park for free. That is right, admission is free, but seating is limited at 2500 Victory Avenue. The show plays from 6 pm to 7 pm on Friday, October 22.
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “Glee” both focus on outcasts and misfits, so a marriage of the two is an obvious choice. However, the previews are causing a stir on the “Glee” FaceBook page as fans question the casting choices. Some feel “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is an untouchable classic, while others fear it will not make a good episode. The iTunes reviews for this episode’s soundtrack, which is already available to download for $6.99, echo concerns about some of the casting/singing choices as well.
This episode puts Emma (Jamya Mays) and Dr. Howell (John Stamos) in the spotlight as both also sing.
Perhaps seeing the entire episode in context will sway reluctant fans. One thing is for sure, Kurt (Chris Colfer) is an eerily convincing Riff Raff.
Glee Goes Rocky Horror
The Glee cast takes on the campy 1970s cult classic right in time for Halloween. “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” also celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. The “Rocky Horror Glee Show” airs nationwide on Tuesday, October 26.
Let’s Do the Time Warp!
Do you need to brush up on your dance moves before the big event? Watch the glee club perform the Time Warp for the annual school musical. The “Glee” website has more sneak peeks including a behind the scenes look at the episode and a snippet of the glee club’s performance of Dammit, Janet.
