Proactiv is among the leaders in acne treatments and is most popularized for the 3-step treatment. According to the Proactiv Website the steps in the 3-step treatments are meant to Renew, Revitalize, and Repair the skin. I personally do not suffer from bad acne problems, but I purchased it to control the small outbreaks when I wasn’t getting enough rest, experiencing stress, or right before my menstrual cycle. These are all instances that I am likely to experience a small breakout. Fearful that my breakouts would turn into something more frequent or severe, I decided to try out the product.
Interestingly enough, I do feel the infomercials depiction of the results are pretty accurate. Like all products, Proactiv will not work for everyone, but from my experience as well as others I do believe the results are pleasing. I know three other people with a history of Bad Acne whose faces have completely transformed because of the products. On myself, my face is less likely to have a breakout and in the event that it does it usually is just one zit or pimple. I have not experienced any drying or irritation with the product. My skin type is normal. In addition to the Procactiv system, I use an oil-free moisturizer. My skin does feel renewed, revitalized, and repaired. I have also noticed these changes in my friends who have continued to the use the product. Overall, does the product work and does it deliver its promises? In my experience, yes.
While I did have a positive experience with the results of the product, there are a few cons about the product that I should mention:
1. My friends have stated that their skin seems dependent on the product. If they discontinue the use of the product even for a week, the breakouts tends to return. This means they must continue to purchase the product in order to keep their skin flawless.
2. The cost of Proactiv is not cheap. Often on the infomercials they have specials for an introductory price of around $29. However after your first purchase the system is at least $50. This can get expensive, especially if the condition of your skin rellies heavily on the product.
3. I always seem to run out of claryfying toner, repairing lotion and then renewing cleanser at different times. It would be help if the toner was larger as well as the repairing lotion.
I hope this review has helped you make a better decision about Proactiv.
Overall my rating would be 4/5 (5 being the highest)
