Police investigate dangerous situations daily, but it’s not often that local neighbors are willing to confide let alone risk danger to call in about suspected activity. Tips from neighbors clued the police to raid a Bennett street home; police found a ‘healthy drug operation’ in place, according to Lt. William Wilson of the Ferndale Public Safety Department. In the November 3, 2010 raid, the Oakland County Narcotics Enforcement Team, assisted by Ferndale Police and the Southeast Oakland SWAT team found $10,000 and 10 ounces of cocaine (street value: $10,000) at the home located in the 300 block of Bennett . Two suspects, Isaac Sheppard and Larry Broadnax were arrested and arraigned in Ferndale’s 43rd District Count on felony charges of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. Both posted bail and return on January 20, 2011 for the preliminary examination. Police credited neighbors for their vigilance in reporting suspect activity.
