I read a lot of beauty blogs and many of them seem to rave about the bronzing face powder (or bronzer) by NYC. Because NYC is an affordable brand, I decided to give it a try. Now that fall is here and winter is near, I’d love to find alternative ways to get a tan both glowing and natural-looking. After trying this bronzer, I believe a gorgeous, glowing tan has been achieved. Read more to see my full review!
The color I bought is “720A Sunny“. When applied onto my face, it looked quite sunny too. I definitely saw an instant tan as soon as it was applied. I felt that the color was quite dark if I apply it all over like powder – so, a little disappointed. However, it wasn’t orange. The color itself was natural, soft and pretty.
To make it less dramatic, I blended the powder with my usual foundation onto a makeup sponge. It supplied the foundation with just a hint of color. When spread over my skin, the mixture blended well and the color was lovely – exactly what I was looking for!
I was so glad this method worked, because it softened the color and still gave me a nice tan.
By the way, I felt no discomfort or irritation afterwards.
The tan lasted all day. I was pleased with its longevity.
The product of course had a powdery texture, but it was smooth to apply. It worked well when mixed with foundation, but was also smooth as an allover powder, blush or even shadow.
There is nothing too luxurious or special about the packaging. It’s a drugstore brand and looks like a drugstore brand.
At a low $2.47 at target, this was a deal!
Overall Rating? 4/5
Repurchase? Yes. I liked the product, and since it’s so cheap, I can afford to look for another one.
After using the NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder (or bronzer) myself, I can see why my fellow beauty bloggers liked it so much. First of all, it’s affordable. But it also worked well. The color it gave me was becoming on my skin – a pretty and natural look for the cold months ahead. I really enjoyed this bronzer and would recommend it to others too. Just remember to mix it with a lighter-colored foundation if you need to.
