I was given a bottle of conditioner from my friend who didn’t like it, so I decided I would try it. After all, I love free stuff; however, I recently tried L’Oreal Everstrong shampoo and conditioner and was not impressed. (See my review of L’Oreal Everstrong here.) Was this product any better?
The container is fairly standard for conditioner. The conditioner comes in a somewhat reflective, or shiny, reddish pink colored plastic recyclable bottle, which I personally find appealing, of 13 fluid ounces. The bottle is designed to sit upright with the flip-cap dispenser at the bottom. On the front of the bottle at the top is the name brand: L’Oreal Paris in all capital letters in their simple trademark font. Below the brand it says “Vive Pro” and “Color Vivie hi-gloss conditioner.” Near the very bottom the conditioner specifies that it is specifically designed for dry or damaged color-treated hair and incorporates dual UV filter technology in this product to “keep color truer, longer.”
This product is said to replenish moisture and add shine and softness to damaged hair while sealing in color to keep that desired shade longer, as compared to other shampoos and conditioners. Since I didn’t personally purchase this product, I am unaware of the price that was paid for it; however, I would imagine it’s comparable to other premium brands of shampoo and conditioner at about $4 to $6 a bottle.
The Scent and Consistency
The conditioner is a bit thinner than I prefer. It is a runny whitish color that resembles glue, but the scent is luxurious and delightful. I prefer a thicker conditioner so I can feel it coating my hair while I leave it on for a couple minutes to let it do its job, and also to enjoy the smell! My opinion of the scent is that it is very pleasant and wonderful and almost seductive. The thin conditioner was easy to coat all over my hair, although it didn’t have the nice thick seal I prefer. It seemed almost as if no conditioner were even on my hair, just water, due to the thin consistency of the product. Nonetheless, I used this conditioner four or five times to be able to fully evaluate the performance of the product and give a fair review. Also, I really love the scent, unlike with the Everstrong shampoo and conditioner.
Performance of L’Oreal Vive Pro Conditioner
For a popular and reputable brand, how was the performance of L’Oreal Paris Vive Pro conditioner? I wasn’t thrilled with the results of this product. Admittedly, I didn’t use the matching shampoo that is designed to work with this conditioner, but I am not confident that if I had used the Vive Pro shampoo the results would have been any better.
Sadly, although I Love the scent of the Vive Pro conditioner, I do not love the results I obtained when using this conditioner. My hair was very frizzy. It seemed a bit knotty rather than detangled, and it didn’t seem very smooth or soft. My hair did seem to shine a bit more after using this product, but with the other impacts of the conditioner, even with the incredible aroma, I would not recommend this product to anyone. I will never purchase this product. I was really hoping this conditioner would produce great results since it smelled so heavenly.
After using two different L’Oreal products, I am certainly not a fan of their hair care line. I have had horrible results with both Everstrong and Vive Pro, and the Everstrong smelled horrible and performed even worse than the Vive Pro. Perhaps it was a good thing that I actually used a different shampoo with this conditioner!
I must be honest and confess that I hate to waste, so I did mix a small amount of this product into my normal conditioner, but the rest of the bottle remains in the rarely used guest bathroom. I can see why my friend didn’t want to use this product. Perhaps I should also try to pass it on to another unknowing soul to try! Maybe someone will like it, but not me!
