My long-term search for a leather (faux or real) coat finally led me to Centigrade, another premiere line on QVC. I found exactly the coat I wanted on sale with five easy pays to boot. It was as though it was meant to be.
While I don’t particularly like buying coats, the fact remains that old ones eventually wear out. The option then is buy something you don’t like but can afford or hold out for what you want and be willing to pay the price. I opted for the latter, knowing the coat would last me a good 10 years or more.
I actually prefer faux fur coats when I can find them. When I can’t; however, I’m okay with leather, be it real or faux as long as the quality is good. Since faux furs don’t come in a trench form, it was obvious this time around I’d have to settle for leather.
My first purchase was a relatively inexpensive faux leather trench by QVC’s in-house designer, Susan Graver. The only problem was the coat turned out to be a real dud. See my review on that item for specific details.
Consequently, I searched QVC for alternatives. That is when I stumbled onto the Centigrade Button Front Leather Trench Coat with Removable Belt. It was exactly what I wanted. It was also on sale at the time for a very reasonable price, which I could spread over five month’s worth of easy pay.
This trench is currently available in black, bronze and dark red. It also comes in pewter, but that is sold out for this season. I personally chose the black since I felt it was the most versatile option.
I wanted a trench coat for various reasons. First of all is the style. It is classic and is rarely inappropriate. Secondly, I like that a trench is not cut to be boxy in nature. It is designed to hug a woman’s curves without clinging to inappropriate areas.
This coat had some bonuses in it. First of all were the princess seams. These help the garment flatter a woman’s curvy body.
Waist seaming is also ideal to help accentuate the positive without calling attention to those areas of the body where a woman doesn’t want focus. The added belt allows one to cinch in the waist even tighter to accent that perfect hourglass shape.
Another positive aspect of a trench coat is its versatility. It can be equally casual and dressy. Throw it on with a pair of jeans and a turtleneck for a shopping trip. Pair it with your favorite little black dress for a night on the town.
Add some of today’s high boots and you have the perfect outfit each and every time. Not every coat can offer the same benefits.
Whether it is spring, fall or the dead of winter, this coat will be perfect. It is warm but still allows the fabric to breathe.
The Centigrade Button Front Leather Trench Coat with Removable Belt comes in sizes XS (4) to 3X (26-28 Womens). The length ranges from 34.5″ (XS) to 38″ (3X).
The outside is 100% leather. The lining is 100% polyester and dyed to match the coat itself.
The coat must be cleaned by a professional with skills in leather dry cleaning. However, it will not require frequent cleaning if it is properly maintained.
The current cost of the coat is $165.00 with $10.22 for shipping and handling. While it is not on special or available on easy pay, you can check on QVC off and on and perhaps catch it when it is.
I love this coat. It is my Christmas present to myself. I will enjoy it for many Christmases to come.
I highly recommend this product. I hope to buy one for my daughter once I have saved enough money to do so. I know she will love it.
