Rusk Being Gutsy Hair Thickener Crème has a lot to offer. The product plumps up fine hair, smells nice, tames humidity-induced wild-hair, and has sunscreen protection and delivers a glistening shine. On top of all that, the tube lasts a long time. The downside is that there are too many unrecognizable ingredients.
My cousin gave me a tube of Rusk Being Gutsy Hair Thickener Crème because the product was not working for her. Her hairdresser recommended the Rusk product but she was not satisfied. She thought the hair thickening crème weighted her hair down and made it look greasy. We both battle thin hair and often share hair thickening product tips. Rusk products usually work well with my hair so I was happy to try it. I followed the instructions (which I doubt she did – I suspect she used too much product). The packaging suggests: squeeze into palm, rub hands together and distribute evenly through wet hair.
The first thing I noticed was the appealing fragrance. Clean smelling with a nice punch. I don’t know how Rusk does this but the product smells like it going to fulfill its claims; as if it is going to do what it’s supposed to do. I like the smell.
Next I observed the texture which was thick and creamy. It was so thick, in fact, that I was afraid it would weigh my shoulder-length hair down and make my tresses appear stringy and lifeless. I proceeded with caution, distributing a small, pea-sized dollop in my palm and rubbing my hands together vigorously. After applying Rusk Being Gutsy Hair Thickener Crème sparingly around my roots, I blow-dried my hair upside down. Wow. I had hair. Almost big hair… almost. It works!
Since then I’ve played around with the amount of product I use. Once I used too much and my hair did end up looking dirty. More is not better with this product. If you try Rusk Being Gutsy Hair Thickener Crème I recommend experimenting until you find the appropriate amount of product for the length and weight of your hair.
Worth noting is the fact that my dark blonde hair has great sun-reflecting qualities when I use this product. Oftentimes hair thickening products leave me with a matte finish but Rusk Being Gutsy makes my hair shiny.
Rusk Being Gutsy Thickener is a versatile and fresh smelling cream that builds volume, defines and texturizes thin hair. The product also helpfully tames frizzy hair, creates loose separation and provides curl or wave definition. The conditioners and moisturizers make hair shiny, improving the look of dry or damaged hair and smoothing fly-away wisps.

Rusk claims that all the ‘Being’ products combine a unique blend of ingredients that work together to enhance the appearance and condition of the hair. I wouldn’t dispute that claim, but still – that is a long list of unrecognizable ingredients
