Some thoughts from last night’s episode:
My oldest daughter is in school again and, because I have to get her (and her sister) to bed by a certain time, I end up watching this show a bit later at night (thank God for DVR). To be honest, many episodes this season have not been worth staying up for. This one was.
I absolutely love the idea of Shawn having to square off against a guy with a very similar gift and a very similar secret. And, having him as a rival for Juliet’s affections was icing on the cake. In fact, even though it had a very similar premise to the episode Psy versus Psy, I think I liked this one much better.
The thing I loved about this one is, from the very beginning, I, much like Shawn, suspected the so-called criminal profiler was hiding something and was possibly the real killer. It turns out I was only half right and I absolutely loved the twist they threw in.
The revelation about the real killer was also a pretty good one and, once again, was someone that only Shawn could have possibly figured out.
If you think about it, killing people who are above you on an organ donor list (or any sort of list) is really a bit stupid considering it makes it easier for the police to finger you as a suspect. If it were me, I would have bumped off one or two people below me too and possibly even faked an attempt on my own life; to get them focusing on someone lower down.
Good to see Woody the Coroner again. I still think he is one of the better secondary characters on this series and I would love to see them find ways to include him in every episode.
It took a cameo by Curt Smith (from the band Tears for Fears), but it was absolutely fantastic to see a classic Psych Out moment last night; with Shawn and Gus singing with Smith. Get rid of the outtakes and do some more stuff like that.
Wow, next week is the summer finale. Now what am I supposed to do on Wednesdays?
