So you’re out there on a South Bay public tennis court, minding your own business, when you notice a high-pitched grunt coming from somewhere near by. It’s likely that you’re sharing the courts with the queen of screams, top-ranked tennis pro Maria Sharapova. Don’t be surprised, because this famous South Bay resident regularly tunes up her game on the local courts. Running into Sharapova is just one of the perks that come with playing tennis in the South Bay. So are sunny skies, cool breezes and public courts so close to the beach that when you stop to catch your breath, you inhale the wonderful scent of ocean air. Grab a court in any of the beach cities – Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach – and let the action begin.
