Fall’s arrival signals Halloween, Thanksgiving and pumpkins. There are many pumpkin patches. These three, in and around Santa Clarita, are family friendly and have plenty of places for the kids to explore and have fun.
This is the ultimate pumpkin patch for children. Lombardi Ranch has been making memories for the past thirty years. This family owned ranch is open from late summer to mid-November. The hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 9:00am to 6:00pm and Sundays and holidays, 9:00am to 5:00pm. This ranch is huge. Along with tons of pumpkins, there is a corn maze, hay stacks and a produce market. As a farm, the ranch sells produce grown on site. According to the website, “typical crops for a year are sweet corn, both yellow and white, tomatoes ripened on the vine, onions, peppers, both hot and sweet, summer squashes, winter squashes, melons of all different varieties, watermelons and flowers.” On the weekends, there is a petting zoo for the kids. Forneris Farms is a farmer’s market open March through December from 9 am. to 6 p.m. During the fall is the harvest festival that features a pumpkin patch, corn maze, tractor pulled train ride and plenty of places for kids to play. In addition, there are farm animals, contests and refreshments on the weekend. Click here for hours and prices for some of the activities during the harvest festival. Nancy’s Ranch, a Roatcap family farm, is open the first Saturday of October thru Halloween. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The ranch has gold rush, big max, lumina, fairytale and basic pie pumpkins for sale. Prices range from $1.00 to $75.00. There are wagons to help carry your pumpkins. In addition, there are also several different types of squashes and gourds for sale. According to the website, if you tell Nancy “Big Max” sent you, you can get a free Jack-Be-Little pumpkin. Kids will love this little pumpkin. There is a limit of two per family. This farm is easy to find and very accessible to people passing on the five freeway or after going to Magic Mountain. The farm is a quarter mile east of I-5. This farm also sells Christmas trees in the winter.
