Whenever I think of a pumpkin pie, I always picture Thanksgiving dinners or the fall season, I have never once thought about a lipstick, until now.
I had always heard really great things about NYX brand lipsticks, but I have failed to buy any. I have lots of their eye shadows, and even some lip glosses and large crayon sticks, but had never picked up any of their lipsticks.
After doing a bit of research on their website, here, and looking at all the different colors they offer, I decided on a few and headed out to my local Ulta store.
I have found that Ulta stores are the only places besides buying online that these NYX products are sold, which kind is a big letdown, as I only go to Ulta on a rare occasion.
These lip products were on sale, so I decided to pick up 2 lipsticks. I often find that you really need to buy 2 of the item you are buying, in a different shade of course, because some amazing products just have a few colors that are misses.
I decided on Pumpkin Pie because the other nude type color I wanted was not being sold at that particular store.
My husband was with me and I always ask for his opinion, and being the fantastic man he is, always helps me choose colors. Since he loves pumpkin pie, this was one that he thought I should buy.
I thought this was going to be too orangey, but it was surprisingly muted. It actually has a more peach look to it, though it has some pink undertones also. It definitely looks prettier than any pumpkin pie I have ever seen at the dinner table.
This particular shade has no shimmer, which I love! This is a truly matte finish.
Because it is matte, you must have well hydrated and smooth lips, so you might want to exfoliate or make sure you use a great balm the night before, as matte colors really enhance any dryness on the lips.
While the color is somewhat pigmented, it is really more sheer and smoother than other traditional lipsticks.
I cannot really tell any smell or fragrance, which is a plus, especially if you are planning on wearing this to dinner where you won’t want any added flavor.
The color lasts a short time, but long enough for the price. I believe I paid around $4 for this tube, maybe a little less.
The color on their website really looks nothing like the actual lipstick. I think a lot of people might not consider buying it online because of this problem.
I really like the formula because it is very smooth and lightweight. It is not too drying, but a nice matte lip balm would be okay to put overtop.
I do not recommend using a high gloss product over this lipstick shade because it is so pretty in its matte satin form.
Overall, I really enjoyed this nude peach lip color and I think it would work well with most skin types and even better if you are using a lot of color on the eyes, as the peach orange shade is not overpowering.
I intend on buying even more lip products from NYX after trying this fantastic shade.
