Pumpkin Spice Lattes are here! This is my absolute favorite thing about fall. I love everything pumpkin, so when I can get my latte in pumpkin flavor, I am in heaven. The Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks is perhaps the most well-known variety you can get, but did you know your local convenient store/gas station may have a cheaper alternative?
I will be comparing a 12 oz. Spiced Pumpkin Latte from 7-Eleven to the 12 oz. (tall) Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. Both of these drinks have the same bare essentials… espresso with cinnamon, nutmeg and steamed milk, but the nutritional info is a bit different and the prices don’t even compare! What about taste?
Let’s start with the nutritional info. The 7-Eleven Spiced Pumpkin Latte beats out Starbucks by having fewer calories and lower fat content, but they have more sodium, carbs and sugars! Plus with Starbucks you have the added benefit of choosing whether or not you want whipped cream and choosing from whole, 2%, nonfat or soy milk.
Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte – Nutritional Info for a 12 oz. with 2% milk and no whipped cream
7-Eleven Spiced Pumpkin Latte – Nutritional Info for a 12 oz. coffee with no added creamers or sugar
Now that you know the differences between their nutritional info, let’s talk about taste. Starbucks version of this delicious drink for Fall has a strong pumpkin flavor and a decent amount of spice. I have tried it with both 2% milk and soy milk, and really there isn’t much different between the two regarding how they taste.
While the 7-Eleven version is good, it isn’t quite as good as Starbucks. The pumpkin taste is very mild in comparison to the one from Starbucks. However if you really like the spice from the Cinnamon and Nutmeg, 7-Eleven wins in that department.
The biggest difference between these two drinks is the price. The 12 oz. (tall) Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks will run you $3.30 while any 12 oz. coffee or hot chocolate from 7-Eleven is only $0.99.
As much as I love to save money when I can, I personally prefer to go to Starbucks for the slightly-better version of the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Yes it is three times the price, but when you factor in the flavor and the choice of milk and whipped cream, it is worth it to me.
Either way you go, you will be having a fantastic Pumpkin treat this fall by choosing either one of these lattes!
