Know someone who is fascinated with pyramids? Many people are! I know a gift that a pyramid person would love to receive – whether for Christmas, birthday, graduation or another occasion. Since it’s only made of paper, and you can give as much or as little money with it as you want, it’s the perfect gift for nearly anyone!
You can make a simplistic pyramid by using ordinary cardstock in a color you’ve chosen. Or, give the pyramid a real block look by selecting a scrapbook paper from a craft store and gluing it onto the cardstock. There, you’ll find paper that looks like rocks, bricks and other materials suitable for making a pyramid.
You’ll decide how large you want the pyramid to be by the sizes of objects you use as patterns. You’ll need a square object first off all. This can be a product box, a photo or another object but must be perfectly square. Set this object in the center of a much larger piece of cardstock or posterboard and draw around it.
You’ll also need four identical triangle shapes and that might be hard to find. You can draw the triangle yourself by simply making the base of it the same length as one side of the square. Draw the triangle on a piece of paper and cut it out. Position the base of the triangle against one side of the square and draw around it. Use the paper pattern to do this to all four sides of the square. Now you should have a square shape with a protruding triangle on each side. Lay this shape on the scrapbook paper, cut out around it, then glue the paper to the cardstock.
Bend the cardstock right where the triangle meets the square. Do this on all four sides. Glue a short wooden dowel to the middle of the square. Select the bills you want to give, lay them end-to-end, and tape them together. Roll the bills into a loose roll and slide it over the wooden dowel.
Now pull the four points together at the top to make a pyramid shape. Tape all sides together but one, slide the end of the first bill through it, then tape the side just above and just below the bill.
The recipient of the money pyramid is a lucky person! He or she can keep pulling dollar bills out of the corner of the pyramid until it runs out – and who knows when that will be?
