Do you have a pair of craft scissors in your scrapbooking supplies? Many of us do, and sadly, many of the scissors just sit and wait for us to take out our vast amounts of addictive scrapbooking and use them again. Did you know that there are many other craft uses for these wonderful tools, other than just scrapbooking? Here are four great ways to use your craft scissors.
Christmas and Birthday Cards
Many of us send out our annual Christmas cards every year. Some of us make our own and a large majority purchase pre-boxed Christmas cards to ease our stress levels in the holiday season. Homemade cards are beautifully made, but did you know that you can accent your store bought cards, too? All you need to do is take out your craft scissors, it doesn’t matter what style the blades are, and simply trim off about ¼ inch from the bottom of the card. This works best with horizontal cards, and you only want to cut the top layer of card. This will give a beautiful edge to a store bought card. To get extra fancy, take the same pair of craft scissors and carefully trim the glue area of the matching envelope. This will give a nice added effect.
Using gift bags, instead of wrapping paper, is a very popular trend these days. Not only does it save all the wrapping paper from the landfills, but the bags (and sometimes the tissue) can be re-used multiple times. Another great use for craft scissors is to take tissue paper and trim the edges. When you pack your present in the gift bag and pack it with the tissue, the nice scalloped edges with give even more elegance to your gift. For a child’s gift, why not try the zig zag style of craft scissors. The possibilities are endless.
Do you have plain looking file folders either at your desk at work, or at home? Are they just so bland that they drive you crazy? There is a quick and easy way to dress up the boring folders without adding color that wouldn’t be accepted in the office. Why not take a pair of nostalgic themed craft scissors and carefully trim the top of each file folder. This will give a nice edging and liven up your work space. It is nice enough for you to notice, but not too much in case your boss doesn’t like too much change. Get creative and have fun.
Do you have a party planned for the holidays? Want to make a statement but not want to blow a lot of hard earned money? Why not take a pair of funky style craft scissors and trim your holiday napkins? Try out a brand new pair on this project. The sharpness of the blades will cut through the edge of the napkins much easier than an older pair. (It is cleaner that way too!)
