Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) is a debilitating disease affecting the heart, lungs, and blood vessels causing severe hypertension (or high blood pressure) which can become life threatening. Symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, and chest pain (http://raceagainstph.org/index).
On November 7, a 5K run/walk will be held to raise awareness and fund the fight against PH. Proceeds from this event go to the Ewing Family Fund for PH Research at Stanford and the Vera Moulton Wall Center (http://wallcenter.stanford.edu/) for Pulmonary Vascular Disease. The flat paved course runs through the heart of Stanford Campus. The race starts at 9:00 am just south of the Stanford University Football Stadium and ends in PAC 10 Plaza.

Pre-register for $30 or for $35 on race day and children under 12 for $15. Volunteers are currently needed to help out with distributing t-shirts, snacks, and at the water station. Volunteers are currently needed for Project Linus (www.projectlinus.org), a non-profit organization that distributes blankets and quilts to children who are in need. “Blanketeers” can provide new, handmade, and washable blankets in variety of sizes. Volunteer opportunities are currently open at the Palo Alto Council of PTAs, working with community partners and PTAs at 17 Palo Alto schools to support students and families of the PA School District.
