Rain Rain Go Away
Rain comes into our lives in many forms. Literally, through raindrops that fall out of the sky. Figuratively, through the trials and storms we have to live through in our lives. Regardless of what kind of rain touches our lives, we want to rain to stop so we can get on with our lives. Rain for children means a boring day inside where they are bored and trying to find something to do. Rain has a huge purpose in our lives. Without rain, the flowers and trees would not survive. Without rain in our lives, we would never mature into the people we were meant to be.
When I was a child, I loved rain. I loved to be in a metal building, listening to the rain as it pounded on the roof on top of me. As children, we would run out in the rain and jump around. We enjoyed every drop of the rain that poured out of the sky. After the rain, I loved to watch the flowers grow. I loved to watch the plants sprout out of the garden. I loved to watch little trickles of water make their way into the larger rivers and lakes. Rain was not boring to me, it was a joy.
Many children today have to go inside their homes when it rains. They are bored inside because they hate the rain. They have their computers, their MP3 players and all sorts of other fun things to do. However, because many children today have everything, they do not find the joys of raindrops hitting a tin roof. They never watch the flowers grow because they are too busy running through their young lives.
Watch and see how adults react to rain. Many adults run away from raindrops like the rain will do some kind of horrible damage to them. Many adults slam on their brakes when the first raindrop hits their windshield. There are dangers when it rains. Some rain storms come with tornados. Some rain storms are horrible and inflict floods on towns and cities. Some rain storms come with dangerous thunder and lightning. There are dangers in rain storms, but the rain itself it beautiful.
Figuratively, many of us have to deal with rain in our lives. Some people call the trials and tribulations of life storms. These rain storms can be hard on us. We can get sicknesses and diseases. We can get hurt or lose a loved one. The rain storms of life come in many forms and can affect our lives tremendously. When we get through these rain storms of life, we grow. Sometimes the growing is difficult. Sometimes the growing hurts really badly. Many times we would not rather see any rain in our lives. We want to have eat, drink and be merry. We want to enjoy our lives to the fullest. The raindrops in our lives help us grow. They hope us reach our potential. Rain in our lives helps us bloom into beautiful flowers.
I went to the doctor today. I am pretty sick as far as colds go. The doctor told me I have the horrible virus that is going around and is hard to get rid of. Many antibiotics have no effect on it and it can lead to pneumonia. I also have a sinus infection to go along with the virus. My doctor gave me an antibiotic that does fight well against this horrible virus and another antibiotic for my sinus infection. I actually had to stay home from work tonight. When people tell me they hope I get better, this is my response. I will either get over this or I will die. I know it sounds depression, but I am a realist. Some day we will all die. When raindrops come into my life, I am just like the rest of you. I want them to disappear, so I can enjoy the rest of my life. The rain storms of life force us to stop and look at life. This is the beauty with a cold or a sickness. When we conquer the rain storm, we grow. There are many people who lose their fights with the rain storms of life. This is sad, but it is also the process of life. We will all die, that is why it is important for us to right with God when the time comes.
When rain comes into your life, do not turn and run from it. Sit in that room and listen to the raindrops as they hit the tin roof. When the storm is over, go outside and look for the promise of God. Someday all these storms of life will lead you to a place where there will be no more pain, sickness or weeping. I cannot wait for that day.
