I’ve recently been having one of those times where you use the phrase, “When it rains, it pours.” I’ve beginning to hate that statement. Anyway, I’ll not pour all that on my readers at once, but rather I’ll give you a drizzle occasionally in the future. But now, I do have a few thoughts to catch up on, and so it’s a good time for a Ramblings column.
Okay, election is over for a moment, and soon the real campaigning will start for the big marbles. This, of course, means that those elected officials who have our best interest at heart will have little time to stay in Washington and fix anything. After all, their jobs are at stake. They have to hit the road and explain to us why we should keep them in office. I say we treat them like a real employer and do a job evaluation on them up this point. Just think of it as going green and saving energy by their not having to travel all over the country and expend all that noxious air into the atmosphere by speech making.
Speaking of the campaign trail, I’m wondering if the President and the members of Congress have to use vacation time when they’re on the road campaigning. I mean, if I had left my office to go out and politic for a candidate, I don’t think my boss would have paid me unless I had some time off coming. And I never asked, but I’m pretty sure he definitely would not have let me use the company car.
Well, we had another daring bank robbery here in our little town last week. I’m wondering what dummy school is graduating these desperados. Instead of choosing a bank on the edge of town, he picked one that sits almost in the middle of town and one of the busiest times in the day for traffic. Apparently, he gave up and left his car because the police found it, along with some money and the gun. I figure he needed a few dollars to go eat at the Taco Bell down the street.
As usual, the WREG morning news reported two guys got in an argument and shot each other during the night. This time they were in the parking lot in front of a Memphis nightclub. Both were wounded, and the police were investigating what happened. Let’s see, two guys drinking in a club late at night, get in an argument. Both pull out their guns and start shooting. Seems like a real puzzle to me.
The best news report on the news, though, was a lady who went back to a club where she had lost her job. She asked for her job back, and when they refused, she returned later and shot at several employees. Sounds like a persuasive way to get your job back to me.
Hope everyone is having a better week, and hopefully mine will get better, too. Thanks for reading.
