Rapper T.I. was arrested, along with his wife Tameka Cottle, for drug possession, as reported at TMZ. The couple, driving a Maybach in West Hollywood, were pulled over by cops who smelled marijuana coming from their car. After searching the car, the couple was arrested and bond was set for $10,000.
Should we be surprised that a rapper is arrested for drug possession?
Hip hop artist 50 Cent is famous for rapping about people who claim to be bad boys but really aren’t. The fact that Rapper T.I. was arrested for drug possession, along with his other troubles, shows that he’s more of a “gangsta” than a “wanksta.” However, 29-year-old Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr., better known as T.I. , who was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the Top 20 Hip Hop Cash Kings, didn’t get to be so rich and successful by being stupid. The image of most successful rappers is that of bad boy, but the bad boy has in fact worked hard to become a success. T.I. is more than just a hip hop artist, he is also a producer, actor and a business owner.
Why would Rapper T.I. get arrested when he just got out of jail?
One of the dumbest things that Rapper T.I. could do is get in trouble again right after serving seven months in an Arkansas federal prison for illegally possessing firearms. If you’re on probation, you should be smart enough to not smoke marijuana in your fancy car so cops can pull you over. Will T.I. return to jail? And if so, for how long? The rapper who appears in the 2010 movie Takers better keep his fingers crossed.
