Gym memberships are getting out of control. Regardless of the offer, hidden costs will be associated with a gym membership. As a consumer, a cost effective way to cut down on cost is to purchase personal gym equipment.
The hidden cost of gym memberships is the fees associated with the contract. A gym can have a special which involves paying $20 per month with only $29 down payment. This is great, until the fine print is shown and required is a two year commitment. This amount creeps to approximately $260. Added to the total are early termination fees which can range from $175 to $200 or more, depending on the health club. The total is now close to $500.The proof is in the numbers. Joining a health club will be expensive.
Choice #1: Embarrassment
A motive behind a consumer not wanting to join a gym is a feeling as if they don’t belong. They feel as if the established members will judge them for their appearance. In the convenience of the home, personal gym equipment can be used without embarrassment. The more confident he consumer feels with themselves, the better they will be able to achieve their goals.
Choice #2: Cost Savings
As noted above, the average gym membership is $260. Depending on the gym and location, the price could be higher. Take one piece of personal gym equipment for example. One piece of aerobic gym equipment can cost a consumer less than $200. At this point the buyer has saved $60 toward additional equipment.
Once the consumer uses the equipment, it will start to pay for itself. If a large gym with over 100 machines, the consumer is not getting a value. Potentially, they will never use every piece of equipment.
Choice #3: Health Benefits
What can you accomplish in 20 minutes three times per week? Do you need a health club to reach those goals or will you get the same benefits from personal gym equipment? A health club will market toward potential customer with claims of weight loss. The claims are false. Someone doing the same exercises will get the same results as home.
Ownership of personal gym equipment will be more beneficial in the long run. The health benefits as well as the cost savings are a positive deciding factor.
