Vicious. The job candidates on season 10 of The Apprentice (NBC) are like a pool of piranhas.
The Task – The Apprentice, season 10 , Episode 2
This week’s task was boring, if the candidates weren’t fighting so brutally to be the next apprentice I think I would have fallen asleep. The teams had to sell ice cream in New York.
How many times have we seen this task re-dressed? Past candidates have sold lemonade, cupcakes, car washes, and dog baths. There is nothing to this task but sales, begging tourists and New Yorkers to buy something on the streets of New York like hundreds of other vendors.
David was the project manager for the men’s team, while Poppy led the women.
These candidates didn’t have much imagination to drive sales. The women realized they needed to sell cases, but they did not try to find any businesses to purchase by the case and treat their employees to ice cream.
The women failed to use sex appeal to market their product, which has served candidates well in the past. The men did a better job using sex appeal, and they only had two men who had the looks and charisma to work it.
The women pulled a last minute stunt to hurt the men’s sales. They invaded the men’s selling space and gave ice cream to the customers, effectively killing their sales. It was a dirty last minute trick that probably didn’t effect the results, but it was a pretty shrewd move made by Tyana. The only problem is that it may come back to haunt Tyana when the teams are merged.
Neither David, nor Poppy did a stellar job as project managers, but nobody did well last week either.
Poppy allowed Stephanie to call the shots, which may have been to her benefit because the women won the challenge.
In the Boardroom – The Apprentice, Season 10 , Episode 2
Like last week, before they knew whether they won or lost the women tore into each other like a pack of wolves. This time Liza was thrown under the bus for being the weakest link. Poppy called her out when prodded by Trump to pick her weakest player. The other women piled on.
Liza was told by Donald Trump that she was fired. It brought the entire boardroom to a standstill. Even Don Jr. looked taken back until Donald said he was kidding. I don’t know if he was kidding or not, but it was a pretty goofy move on behalf of Trump. It was the first time he has used his most powerful words, “You’re fired,” out of context. Bad move.
Since the men lost the challenge the women were dismissed, but Liza wasn’t in the mood to kiss and make up with her teammates. She transformed from an easy-going teammate into a bee. All she accomplished was to alienate her team and invite another boardroom attack.
Meanwhile, back in the boardroom…
David took down James and Alex. David acted immature throughout the meeting, rolling his eyes and contorting his mouth. He called out James because he doesn’t like him. Alex was fingered as the weakest link on the team.
Trump found Alex too weak to compete among a pack of alpha males, so he heard the dreaded words, “You’re fired!”
Watch the teams go at it again, next Thursday on NBC at 10 pm ET.
