Most of us have someone in our lives who is a great cook. Be it your mother, sister, or even an in-law there’s always that one person who can keep you coming back for more! One thing about a good cook, though, is that they rarely give away their secret recipes! If you’ve been fortunate to have been given a recipe from such a person it goes to show you just how much you mean to him or her!
Lots of people give food and food products to others throughout the year. Holidays, birthdays, Valentine’s Day and many other special occasions are celebrated by giving gifts of food. A nice gift bag is always a thoughtful touch when giving a food gift, but if you’re a great cook, you can make those bags super-special. Print out some of your recipes and attach them to the bag!
Recipe bags can be made for many occasions even if the gift you’re giving isn’t something the person has to make. Give someone a batch of peanut butter cookies, for example, and print the recipe to attach to the bag. Or, don’t give away your recipes at all! Cut recipes from magazines and other sources then attach them to the gift bag. With a gift like peanut butter cookies, you can include a recipe for peanut butter cookies, peanut butter fudge, and edible peanut butter glue for kids.
Decoupage adhesive works great for adding recipes to gift bags. Print recipes from the internet onto colored paper or just write simple recipes onto paper you’ve cut. The shapes of the paper can be interesting or ordinary. The recipes can be printed on beautiful paper or simple printer paper. They can first be laminated or just glued right onto the bag.
For the best look, create more than one recipe, and even several, if the bag is large. Glue a recipe on here and there, turning them this way and that, to create a unique look for the gift bag. Placing heavy, flat objects on the recipes as the glue dries will help keep them from crinkling.
The next time you give someone a gift of food, candy, cooking utensils or even hot chocolate and mugs, consider making a recipe gift bag. Use any ordinary bag and attach the chosen recipes. It’s simple yet very unusual!
