If you’ve ever walked down the cereal aisle with a young child you know they are like magnets to the bright colors and images of their treasured tv and movie characters on the front of each cereal box. How fun would it be for your child to display their favorite cereal box covers on their holiday tree in a crafty and festive way? Below you will find an all age friendly tutorial for transforming your empty cereal boxes into star ornaments.
Empty Cereal Boxes
Glue Sticks (for glue gun)
Single Hole Punch
Step One – You can either make your own star stencil by simply using a ruler to draw an outline of a start onto a sheet of plain white paper or you can print off a free stencil from Pixabella Free ClipArt.
Step Two – Using your preferred star stencil, trace the star shape onto the cereal box cover with your pencil. Carefully cut out the star from the cereal box.
Step Three – After you have traced and cut out two cereal box stars, it is time to glue them together. Using the hot glue gun, apply a thin coat along each side of the stars (on the blank side). Firmly place the stars together with the design side facing out. Let it dry completely.
Step Four – The final step is to place a hole at the top point of the star with the single hole punch. String a piece of yarn though the hole and knot it at the end. Now it is ready to be hung on your holiday tree!
