This article will serve as a walkthrough for the third Soviet mission in the PC game Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 which is entitled ‘The Science of War.’ This mission revolves around capturing a secret weapon being created by the Allied forces in Mykonos. The objectives of The Science of War in Red Alert 3 is to capture and hold the Allied Science Facility while clearing out the defending Alllied forces, and protecting the facility against any counterattack. The Soviet Commander will be assisted by Zhana in the struggle against Warren and Giles forces during The Science of War in Red Alert 3.

The mission starts with both soviet commanders placed along the southern land mass, with 3 Allied controlled islands in the middle of the water, with the allied controlled main land behind that, containing the Science Facility that must be captured. The first task should be to work on airports, and one strategy that I found particularly effective, was spamming twinblades, while building a repair facility to be able to keep them at full health between guerilla style attacks.
First work on the islands in the middle, clearing one at a time, once a squad of twinblades have been constructed, and use them to quickly overwhelm any anti air defenses first before wiping clean the rest of each island before moving to the next. Taking out the tech Inhibitor as soon as possible is suggested since the higher tech unlocked is beneficial in this mission, although with the twinblade spamming method this benefit is effective most to the AI controlled co-commander.
Once each Island is cleared, make sure to take control of them with Sputniks, building ore refineries and light defenses to stop any harassing units. These islands also make great places to put repair facilities for the support of twinblades constant advance. Once all three have been cleared, it’s time to move against the main land. Take the twinblades to clear the base to the left of the science facility, making sure again, to overwhelm any anti air as quickly as possible, which the twinblades are completely capable of, especially with their missile volleys. At this time you should have over 16 twinblades, having produced nothing but them, and repairing them at every possibility.
When using the twinblades against the science facility, you can either call in the co-commander with ground forces to wipe the 4 sam sites that protect it, or to focus on the power generators first, to take over the area with as few losses as possible. Repair your twinblades once more after clearing the area, and command the co-commander to send an engineer to the science facility, which should take enough time to finish repairs, and add on to your helicopter army.
Once the science facility is captured, start building some light defenses and a repair facility next to it, allowing turrets and the co-commander to handle its defense, construct a few migs for extra anti air, and send them to defend the facility, then take the twinblades for a little creative solution to the missions defense portion.
Most people suggest at this point, you should follow the games orders, and play the defense card, however, there is a saying; “The best defense, is an excellent offense” and this is completely the case. The new allied base is guarded heavily by a line of sam sites at its front, however, this is easily avoided by moving the twinblades north and to the extreme right of the map.
Clear a path into the north allied base by taking out the 2 sam sites to the right, before pouring the twinblades into the Allied base, and wreaking complete havoc on their base, which is completely undefended once the sam site line is breached. The allied forces will try to counter this surprise attack by building rocket troopers, but are easily destroyed themselves under the helicopters sustained fire. Once the power generators are down, the sam sites deactivate, allowing the easy destruction of training facilities that are closer to the front of the base. Once the allied base is gutted completely, wipe off the sam sites themselves, which brings about a timely victory for this mission, even if the data transfer timer has not reached 0.
