This article will serve as a unit guide for the video game Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 covering the support powers deployed by the Soviet Union, one of three factions playable in the game.
Red Alert 3 – Soviet Union Support Powers: Magnetic Satellite
This ability gives the power to create a beam that sucks up any armored unit permanently removing it from the game. This beam can be moved by clicking on the green arrows in the beam to select it. There is a slight delay before activated, and the beam becomes stronger, faster and lasts longer when upgraded. In multiplayer, its upgrades also allow it to pick up heavier units, while in the campaign any version can pick up the largest units.
Red Alert 3 – Soviet Union Support Powers: Orbital Drop
This ability drops a slew of space junk onto the targeted location, offering a great damage potential to be used against buildings like ore refineries or power generators to quickly cripple a base’s power or economy. It can be used in various other situations as well. Upgrading the ability makes more junk drop with each call down. This ability combines with the magnetic satellite by also dropping any units that have been sucked up into the air, making them into additional projectiles.
Red Alert 3 – Soviet Union Support Powers: Terror Drone Surprise
This ability causes Terror Drones to be spawned from the remains of any destroyed friendly armor. This ability is most useful when lots of friendly tanks are being lost in a particular battle.
Red Alert 3 – Soviet Union Support Powers: Desolator Airstrike
Drops biohazard waste on the selected area that damages units over time. Most effective against infantry and light armor. Is also capable of killing garrisoned units.
Red Alert 3 – Soviet Union Support Powers: Cash Bounty
This ability essentially tags any enemy units under its effect with cash prizes awarded upon their destruction. The value awarded is proportionate to the item’s cost being about 25% of what the item costs to build. Use this only on units you are about to destroy.
Red Alert 3 – Soviet Union Support Powers: Toxic Corrosion
This ability turns a targeted friendly unit into a suicide unit, causing it to take damage while it leaks a corrosive acid that damages all enemies nearby, most effective versus infantry. Best used with cheaper units.
Red Alert 3 – Soviet Union Support Powers: Mass Production
Changes the cost of all units and structures, decreasing the amount needed to build them by 25%. Great for longer games, and can really shift the balance over time.
Red Alert 3 – Soviet Union Support Powers: Grinder Treads
This causes all vehicles to regain health when running over and crushing an enemy unit.
Red Alert 3 – Soviet Union Support Powers: Magnetic Singularity
This ability works like a large targeted EMP blast, disabling temporarily all vehicles in the area from moving. Make sure to be prepared with units to destroy the now helpless victims. This ability kills all infantry in the targeted area.
