Amanda Seyfried has taken upon a very different role from her previous movie, Dear John. She is now starring in a new, exciting version of Little Red Riding Hood. Dear John was a classic tale of a long distance love that did not seem to work out for the couple. It was not quite a mystical tale like Red Riding Hood promises to be, but it shows that Amanda Seyfried has the ability to act in a diverse amount of roles.
It will be interesting to see how Leonardo Dicaprio, the mastermind behind the movie idea twists a short children’s story into a film. DiCaprio has shown his ability to captivate audiences in movies such as Catch Me If You Can and Inception. Just knowing that his name is behind the film will be great publicity.
Yahoo! Movies points out that Red Riding Hood has a Twilight look to it. The diehard fans of the Twilight movies will be instantly attracted to the film if this is the case. I know that I always go to see the Twilight movie no matter how terrible some of the movies have been just because I enjoy the books. Aiming the movie at a specific demographic such as Twilight will not only be helpful for movie sales, but it will also give the movie a chance at exposure that it might not have gotten on its own.
Fans of books and stories tend to complain that the book always does a better job than the movie, but Little Red Riding Hood is very brief and perfect for someone who has an inventive mind. A lot of interesting and creative ideas are sure to be crafted. Since Red Riding Hood has nixed the “little,” a mature twist will surely be added to the tale making it more original that ever.
I respect both Amanda Seyfried and Leonardo DiCaprio’s acting careers, so I will most definitely take a trip to the theatres when this move becomes available on the big screen. Who does not love to see a fairy tale come to life?
