The Tea Party and GOP stand as supporters of the US Constitution except when they are against it as the article “GOP Senate Candidate Ken Buck: ‘I Disagree Strongly With The Concept Of Separation Of Church And State'” indicates.
The article states “At a forum for GOP Senate candidates late last year, GOP Senate candidate in Colorado Ken Buck said that he “disagree[d] strongly with the concept of separation of church and state,” and that “it was not written into the Constitution.”
Buck and Christine O’Donnell are simply ignoring reality as the article states”Needless to say, while the Constitution doesn’t contain the exact words “separation of church and state,” legal scholars and the courts agree it does prohibit the establishment or endorsement of religion, and that the involvement Buck wants is dangerous. As Justice Sandra Day O’Connor wrote in a concurring opinion in 1984, the government is prohibited from “making adherence to a religion relevant in any way to a person’s standing in the political community.”
In 1801, Thomas Jefferson wrote that “religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God,” and argued the Constitution required “building a wall of separation between Church & State.”
Buck and Christine O’Donnell want religion involved in government as long as it is the Christian religion. They are against Islamic religion being involved in government and wing-nut Newt is making up disasters looming in our future as the article “GINGRICH DEMANDS LEGISLATION TO ADDRESS IMAGINARY THREAT” indicates.
Newt knows how to befuddle his audience and it is easy when they are hoping to hear reasons to hate others.
He is quoted as saying “This is not about religious liberty, if they want to build that mosque in the South Bronx, frankly they need the jobs,” he continued. “But I am totally opposed to any effort to impose Sharia on the United States, and we should have a federal law that says under no circumstance, in any jurisdiction in the United States, will Sharia be used in any court to apply to any judgment made about American law.”
That condemnation of Sharia doesn’t follow logically with Newt’s denunciation of the Islamic center and Mosque proposed to be built near Ground Zero which Newt was talking about as the article states”Note the classic non-sequitur — converting a clothing store into a community center, in Newt’s twisted mind, is part of an effort to impose Sharia on the United States. At least, that is, what he wants his easily-confused audience to believe.
But I’m especially impressed with the legislation Gingrich wants to see. To hear him tell it, we need a law to prevent U.S. courts from basing rulings on Sharia.
Are there any U.S. courts doing this? Well, no. Have there ever been any U.S. courts doing this? Nope, not one. Is there any evidence at all to suggest U.S. courts might ever do this? Not even a little. This is the talking point of fringe, unhinged radicals.
But Gingrich wants a law anyway. I was disappointed he didn’t also call for a federal law that says, under no circumstances, will Bigfoot be allowed to run for Congress. Also, unicorns must not be permitted to roam the streets, and flying saucers must not land within 100 yards of a school. We must think of the children, you know.
The disgraced former Speaker added that the Democrats’ “secular socialist machine” is comparable to “radical Islamists.”
Newt’s speech is indicative of how he is not alone in fomenting violence the right-wing extremists are perfectly happy to hate as the article “Rand Paul Supporters Drag MoveOn Supporter To Ground And Stomp on Her Head” indicates.
The article states “Supporters of Kentucky GOP Senate candidate Rand Paul dragged a woman, MoveOn.org member Lauren Valle, to the ground and stomped on her head outside of today’s debate between Paul and his Democratic opponent Jack Conway….
This incident marks the second time in less than two weeks that supporters of a Tea Party candidate physically restrained a person to prevent them from confronting their preferred candidate – although Joe Miller’s (R-AK) private security force did not engage in such a brutal display of violence in order to prevent their candidate from being asked an embarrassing question.”
These Tea Partiers are mindless thugs. They were happy to parade weapons at the town hall meetings. Now they attack woman-big surprise. Paul’s people condemn the act as the article states “A spokesman for Rand Paul said, “Violence of any kind has no place in our civil discourse and we urge supporters on all sides to be civil to one another as tensions rise heading toward this very important election.”
Their hate filled speeches incite violence.
Does Angle think this overtly racist campaign might lead to violence? She is hoping that it will as she is following the outline that Miller and Paul used to incite brawls.
Hatred and violence attracts these right-wing conservatives as the article “Sharron Angle Pits Brown Against White In Anti-Immigrant Attack Ad” indicates.
In the 1960s, in LBJ’s term, the US passed “Great Society” legislation. For these right-wing conservative fanatics the 1960s never happened.
The article states “First, Republican senatorial candidate Sharron Angle ran offensive images of menacing Latino men with flashlights walking along a fence alongside a snapshot of an innocent looking white family in order to make the point that her opponent Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) is the “best friend an illegal alien ever had.” Then her campaign released a second commercial with a new image of scowling Latino men juxtaposed against a photo of white college graduates. Despite the fact that her ads have sparked outrage in the Latino community, Angle has decided to continue with her anti-Latino campaign theme.
In her newest attack ad, Angle pits brown against white in order to make the case that Reid is a friend of dark-skinned, scary looking “illegal aliens” and an enemy of white Nevadans like her.
Angle’s third ad is especially surprising considering the fact that many outlets are reporting that Latinos may decide the tight Nevada senatorial race. “Angle has made few friends among Latinos after she supported neighboring Arizona’s controversial SB 1070 law, the strictest in the nation to curb illegal immigrants. And as polling day gets closer, her gaffes and missteps are helping to bring the Latino vote out for Reid,” reported Reuters last week.”
Angle is using an old GOP trick. Already an Angle group– Latinos for Reform, has asked Latinos to not vote for Democrats. Why should not Latinos vote for Democrats? Latinos for Reform says because they haven’t passed immigration reform legislation. Why haven’t they? The fact that the legislation wasn’t passed solely because the party of no stonewalled any activity regarding this is completely bypassed by Latinos for Reform.
This exemplifies the diabolical GOP character. Doesn’t the name of the group sound like it is geared to help Latinos? Makes you feel good was achieved like “Mission Accomplished”! Well this group is run by GOP Robert De Posada, a conservative strategist with the Virginia-based public affairs consulting firm Smith Fairfield, which has a long history in and about the Republican Party. Any Latino who gets irritated that he can’t name a single GOP policy that has not worked against the interests of Latinos gets a free trip out of the US– without a return trip.
She knows that Latinos won’t vote for her. She wants to make sure that right-wing conservative fanatics-whose votes she wants, realize just how much she hates everyone outside of the non-inclusive GOP tent and that this attempt at voter suppression will convince them to come out and vote for her.
Angle knows the population of Nevada. Does she ignores the facts because of a cold calculated political decision or is her hatred for those who are not in the non-inclusive GOP tent overcome her ability to use logic?
Will the GOP’s plan work? Let’s hope that the voters of Nevada can see through this dodge. The article states “But the fever-pitch backlash to this advertisement suggests the message could bring about just the opposite effect, by energizing a Hispanic voting bloc that may have been lethargic with a new and compelling reason to get out and vote – by and large, for Democrats.”
For the GOP night is day and anything they say can be the truth. The article states “Voter suppression isn’t usually marketed as voter empowerment. But in the ad by Latinos for Reform, an independent campaigning group led by career conservative Robert de Posada, the paradox was presented as plain sense: Because the Democrats haven’t delivered on immigration, exercise your right to vote by not doing so.”
In our country we can so calmly talk about voter suppression because we are numb to any GOP trick because they have been doing unethical activities for so long.
The country was left in dire straits by Bush 43 and the GOP decided to let their fellow citizens rot rather than participate in the government as the article “Mitch McConnell: I Want To Be Senate Majority Leader In Order To Make Obama A One-Term President” indicates.
The article states “From the moment Obama entered office, right-wing conservatives embraced the posture of hell-bent opposition. Recall, in Jan. 2009, hate radio host Rush Limbaugh expressed his hope that Obama fails. One month later, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell proudly embraced Limbaugh at a conservative conference. The fringe rhetoric of far right activists had quickly become the de facto governing strategy of the Republican leadership, as they adopted a posture of obstructionism.
Believing that the Republican strategy of opposition has played to his political benefit, McConnell is pledging to do more of the same if Republicans win back the Senate. In an interview with the National Journal’s Major Garrett, McConnell candidly acknowledged that he feels his “single most important” job is to defeat President Obama in 2012.”
The article notes that the current group of GOP goons learned that Newt’s 1990s way could be improved upon as it states “McConnell added, “Our single biggest political goal is to give our nominee for president the maximum opportunity to be successful. … We need to work smarter than we did [in 1995], and not become the foil off which [President Obama] pivots.” In 1995, then-Speaker Newt Gingrich led a shutdown of the government, which many Republicans now acknowledge was a “serious mistake, tactically and substantively.”
This morning, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough was floored by McConnell’s open admission that his single most important goal is to defeat Obama. “Mitch McConnell said that?!? … He admitted that on the record?!? That is embarrassing,” he said. “Can I just say for the record – that is pathetic.”
Scarborough is a former GOP Florida Congressman who was first elected in1994 so he knows GOP corruption intimately.
The GOP will lie to its supporters and obviously to their detractors. They’ll bring us back to an age where there is no separation between Church & State. Their hate filled speeches incite violence. They’ve spent the last 2 years obstructing Obama and that was McConnell’s goal!
