Is it ironic? What our right-wing extremist Christian red staters need corresponds to what right-wing extremist Islamic jihadists need–intensive psychotherapy and an economy that values them. A tiny minority of Islamists take up arms. Does that match the numbers that have made threats against political leaders in the Democratic party? It is certainly less that the lunatics who brandished arms at the town hall meetings.
The GOP propagandists have been exposing red staters to Orwellian “two minute hates” for generations. When I say red staters I mean those lazy, uninterested voters in those states who are knuckle dragging Neanderthals. GOP hypocrisy over the airwaves that they are receiving now doesn’t differ substantially from what their John Birch society grandparents received generations ago or what their KKK ancestors practiced. Kerry tried to combat the “Swift Boat veterans for Truth” as Obama has tried to publicize how he saved the country–maybe the world, from a depression. When you have people so ignorant that they can’t remember what the US economy was like when Obama was elected, but can be swayed by the idiocy of the Tea Party, then publicizing Obama’s contributions won’t work. These red staters are full of rage and have been so for generations. A team of cracker psychologists and a view of an economy that values their contributions is what is needed, but that isn’t feasible!
There is violence on the right with Beck accusing the left of worse as the article “The party of thugs” indicates. The article notes 2 recent incidents of GOP violence and states “I do not see these as two isolated incidents. I see them as two very disturbing symptoms of a new culture of hatred and violence on the far right.”
This didn’t come from nowhere as the article states “We saw it brewing last March, when Tea Partiers greeted members of the Congressional Black Caucus by hurling the N-word at them. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver was spat on in the incident. Then they shouted “faggot” at openly gay Rep. Barney Frank.
At least those right-wing protesters were unarmed, as far as I know. But, also that month, ABC News reported that “at least 10 House Democrats received violent threats to their lives or property.”
It was easy to see that racists and GOP political leaders didn’t want this president to succeed as the article states “But that line had already been crossed. In the backlash to President Obama’s inauguration last year, some people showed up at town hall meetings with loaded guns. And sales of guns and ammunition surged, as did the number of death threats against Obama.”
This isn’t some isolated fanatics engaging in impulsive violence as the article states “Perhaps most disturbing is the fact that some Republican leaders are encouraging this kind of thing, either directly or indirectly.
We have Sarah Palin tweeting to her followers, “Don’t Retreat, Instead – RELOAD!” On her Facebook page was a U.S. map marking the locations of 20 House Democrats who voted for the health care bill and who represent districts that the Republicans carried in 2008. The 20 locations were marked with crosshairs.
We have Sharron Angle suggesting “Second Amendment remedies” if the elections don’t turn out as the Tea Partiers would hope.”
This is premeditated and some of the FOX entertainers such as Beck are already coming up with excuses as the article states “And, ironically, we have Glenn Beck warning his followers of impending violence from the left. This, of course, serves to convince the Tea Partiers that their own violent acts are all in self-defense.
But might does not make right. And we do not have true democracy if political opponents are kept down by force of violence. What we have instead is the threat of mob rule. And I don’t think that’s what the Founding Fathers had in mind for this country.”
Red staters have been buying this product for generations. FOX and Clear Channel Radio need to make a profit and there is a red state hater, a sucker born every minute for this appeal to base instincts as the article “The 2-minute video that could win the election for the Dems” indicates. The article states “
The article states “For months you’ve heard GOP blowhards repeat over-and-over again that Obama’s stimulus was “a waste of money” and “did nothing”. And–all the while–administration wussies have hemmed-and-hawed trying their best to sweep the stimulus under the rug terrified that it would cost them precious votes in the upcoming midterms. Obama’s unwillingness to stand up and defend the things the most liberals believe in heart-and-soul has cost the Dems the election and could end up dragging the country back into another vicious contraction.
All Team Obama needed to do was develop a coherent communications strategy based on the way stimulus touches the lives of normal people—like your friends and neighbors and brother-in-law–all of whom are looking desperately for a fu**ing job! Is that so hard to do? It’s called public relations, and it can be used to promote the things we all believe in rather than just making wild accusations like GOP Swiftboaters.”
I don’t buy this. Most of the seats in Congress that the GOP will pick up have recently been GOP seats. Bush 43 spent just as badly as any “tax and spend” Democrat so these people were ripe for the picking. Salesmanship of the Obama achievements might have helped, but not by much.
The article states “You gotta see this…
I challenge anyone to watch this short 2-minute video and say that Obama’s stimulus “didn’t work”.
That sound like the TV pitch you hear for the products you buy at the middle of the night and never use. The article concludes “We need more stimulus because people are unemployed, frightened and suffering. So, why is Obama so afraid to stick up for the things that most decent people believe in?”
Regressives are in power over the airwaves and soon more as a result of this election which will be stolen because the US Supreme Court-stacked with right-wing extremists by Bush 43, decided to ignore centuries of US laws and allow foreign and domestic corporations to pollute the airwaves with ads attacking Democrats. The ads don’t have to be truthful and no one will ever know who paid for them because the GOP wouldn’t vote legislation that would force this information to be disclosed.
Obama will lose seats. The GOP will launch investigations of him incessantly. Our government will grind to a halt because of this as occurred back in Clinton’s term. Why-because Red staters need intensive psychotherapy and an economy that values them! They have to be able to think every day that their lot in life is improving and that their children’s lives will be better than theirs. That won’t happen in our lifetime. The worldwide economy doesn’t have to pay red staters a salary for this dream to occur. Their hatred of all not in their clan isn’t going to be erased by a few political slogans.
