One thing I was not happy to see on a recent search about the neighborhood was the assault with a deadly weapon that occurred on 10/22. It was at Mission and Valencia where there are plenty of police all of the time. It was only 11 p.m. when the incident took place.
Of course, we are all aware of the fact that big cities almost always have a problem with crime. However, in the Transmission, we have had a lot of community efforts to try to focus on crime. The Mission Local reported in March 2010 that there has been a decline in crime in the Mission at large.
Although I agree that crime appeared to be lower this summer, there is still crime in the Transmission. If you need to go to a local event after dark, police recommend to use the buddy system. You can also get involved with your local Neighborhood watch by going to the San Francisco Police Department’s page sponsored by SAFE SF.
According to CrimeMapping.com, from 10/21 to 10/27 2010, there have been two cases of assault and two cases of stealing.
